Level 2 charger sizing / on board charger size.

So standard range has 11.3kwh input on on-board charger.

1. 48amp charger is 11.5kwh
2. 40amp is 9.6kwh

Any benefit/drawback using 48amp for standard range?

Any "45" amp chargers?

Looking at getting a Tesla to J1772 adapter for Tesla Destination chargers at Motels and places. What is the maximum amperage the Ford Lightning Extended range can accept with the J1772 in this type of scenario? Is it 48 amps?
Nominally 80A.
Did you use the lubricant that came with it?
:) There was none included and that isn't a good solution either. They need to work on their design just a tad.

Lubricant would only make a mess as you store it or take it with you and collect grime that you'd never want inside of it.

Maybe a dry lube?
You should probably use dielectric grease instead.

If actually applying to the electrical contacts, I agree. I don't think that the contacts are what is tight/sticking however; it is the collar. Since the collar does not conduct electricity, but would be subject to dirt/grime, dielectric might not be the best...?

Then again, maybe I am overthinking it. Happens sometimes. :geek:
The lubricant goes on the inside of the plastic collar into which you insert the Tesla charging plug.
Agreeing with 208, if not for the electrical connectors then dielectric grease would not be the best.
Thanks for the feedback. I figured dialectic either way and truly I wasn't sure if @ChasingCoral was joking or serious. I had not heard of anyone using it. I also agree it is the collar not the pins themselves.

My Tesla Tap came with a small tube of silicone lubricant and instructions. No joke and no I’m joking emoji.

Does lightning come with a level 1 charger? My truck won’t arrive till spring but I already installed a 80amp breaker and setup a 50amp box outside to plug in 240v wand to truck. I’m not sure if I’m going to order the pro board charger so just want to make sure truck comes with a level 1 and what’s the charge time on 50amp plug. Any feedback is appreciated

Portable charger is level 1 or 2 but you need to buy it now.

Thanks for the info. In order for me to qualify for the tax rebate, I had to remove the $500 charger from the build. That dropped MSRP to slightly under $80k. Now I’ll look for the charger online to purchase outside the build

The far better cord made by Tesla is less than half the price @ $230 including shipping.

Can you please provide the model # or link? I’d like to order in preparation.

Mobile Connector https://shop.tesla.com/product/mobile-connector?sku=1763817-00-A
You will also need / want a Tesla tap so that you can charge at the ubiquitous free Tesla destination chargers out there:

Thank you very much. I will absolutely get the tap as there is always a 50% chance the super chargers for non teslas don’t work.
