So standard range has 11.3kwh input on on-board charger.

1. 48amp charger is 11.5kwh
2. 40amp is 9.6kwh

Any benefit/drawback using 48amp for standard range?

Any "45" amp chargers?

The ford charge station pro has a dip switch to de-rate it to 48 amps, so you can use that. I just upgraded a 50a to 60a circuit and changed the dip switch to go from 40 to 48 on mine.
Dip rate? what is this about? I just wired in my 60 amp breaker to prep for an upgraded charger that can provide 48amps in the future.

Until then I’ll just use the charger that the truck comes with..

The CSP is capable of 80amp charging, however you can install it on a lower amp circuit and make an adjustment on the unit to only draw the power that your circuit will allow. Hence giving you the 48 amp charge you are looking for.

While this is true, if all you need is 80% for your normal daily needs, then that is even nicer to your batteries.
😎
The very reason I routinely charge my Mach E and my as Lightning to 80%.

Don’t forget there are losses in the system. You won’t get a full 48A output into the truck.

Looking at getting a Tesla to J1772 adapter for Tesla Destination chargers at Motels and places. What is the maximum amperage the Ford Lightning Extended range can accept with the J1772 in this type of scenario? Is it 48 amps?
Use this one... it can handle the power the Lightning can pull.

Thanks for the help. Ordered one last night and hoping it’ll be here before leaving for road trip from Kentucky to Orlando Thursday.
Nice. Anyone that road-trips should have one, there are a lot of Tesla destination chargers out there to take advantage of.

Off topic for the Lightning forum, but Tesla released the CCS adaptor for the US yesterday. Teslas can now charge at literally any charger they come across. Now, to get the Supercharger adaptor for the CCS guys, and the world will be a better place... :geek:

Looks like you've ordered, but it can take advantage of 80 amps if the destination chargers are set up for it. I doubt we'll find many set up for that, but I bought the Mini for 80 amps too just to be prepared for any situation since the truck can't dial it back.

The TeslaTap mini needs a little more tolerance I'll say - it is hard to get on and off of the Tesla chargers and is almost too tight in the charging socket of the truck, but it does work.

Did you use the lubricant that came with it?
