Haha better than I expected. The light is installed but a harness was missing from the box and they didn’t have any on hand. I have to go back next week after the part comes in for them to finish hooking it up. I had to pay state tax on the labor because Ford didn’t charge that on the original transaction. But otherwise no other hidden costs. They didn’t instill a lot of confidence in the beginning but the camera, sensors, and blue cruise work just fine. Probably going to be a normal occurrence for a bunch of dealerships with the low volume of this truck. Shocked me a little because they had three chargers on the lot.
Similar experience in PA. Ordered it through accessories.ford and they were utterly clueless at the dealership. Also missing the harness, which they didn’t discover until 2+hours into the job and I was waiting on site. They were able to get it from a parts runner. I also had paid for installation ahead of time which I’m glad I did as the dealership wanted to charge me $300+ and I said I’d already paid through the website ($120).
Weirdest bit was when they were finished, they handed me the small square ‘plug’ which goes where the sprayer for the front camera would have been (if I’d had that option) and said, “Oh, just glue this on at home.” WTH? ”No, I’m using a ford part, from ford, and at a ford service center.” “The technician isn’t comfortable gluing it on.” “Neither am I. If there’s some water issue later, I’m not going to have this come back on me and void a warranty.”
They really don’t have the model down quite yet. Also lost 10% of my charge during the process. They would do themselves a solid to check the charge coming in and be sure it’s got the same charge going out.
