My '23 keeps telling me the software is up to date. Lariat ER, I have automatic updates configured for every day at 1 am when the truck is in WiFi range.
Don’t expect an update right away. When did you take delivery?

I took delivery on Dec 16, so it's been a little over a month now.
You probably were up to date through the DTE Power Up. I hadn’t received an update since November and then got one yesterday. I’m in the Early Access program so you should get the new interface in the next few weeks.

Hi Folks,

At the last software update, related to range - my range drastically dropped.
I figured it was just a winter thing so ignored it.

Then yesterday, I applied the 22-PU1009-MIL-DTE update (Received Jan 08) and after a full 100% charge my range went to 515 km!!!

I checked again and now it's reporting 505km.

I'm using the Ford Charger Pro.

Has anyone else seen an over-reporting charge?

Does anyone know how to get. this software update to install. Its been weeks of it telling me its got and update and it will take 23 minutes to install, but always fails. Is there a manual way to do this? use a thumb drive or SD card. How do I ge this update installed?

There have been references to the Lightning being designed so as to provide charging to the 12 volt battery as long as the vehicle is plugged into an EVSE.

I think it is now proven that this is not the case. Unfortunate, but at least we know.
Not only that. I regularly charge to 80%. My updates continued to fail until I charged to 100% and the update completed successfully. Ford needs to do something better about keeping the 12 volt battery charged regardless if it's plugged in or not or at what level charge you maintain your vehicle at. We shouldn't have to put a trickle charger on it.

Successfully received 4 updates since June 6th. Don't remember what the 1st was, Paak, DTE and this totally new facelift. My Lightning has been plugged in (every night outside) in the NE, and within range of my wifi access point (in the garage). We have had a mild winter, but I plug it in every evening after work. It helps with cabin conditioning, and I remote start 20 min prior to departure. The short of it is plugged in, with wifi access has been a solid update path for this Lightning.

@Ford Motor Company I hope you are following my winter driving story. See this entry:

If I'd have paid any attention to that meter and range estimation, I'd have been an ice block on the side of the road. It is much, much better to under report range that what is doing right now. You have to fix this.

Agreed. I HATE the "more accurate" GOM that's actually so far off of reality that it's entirely useless. Before the DTE update it was off, but not so significantly that I couldn't at least get an idea of my actual available range. Now it totally over-states - there's no way I'm EVER going to get 266 miles at 90% charge in Michigan in January with the driving I do. It's more like 180-195 on a full charge (1.4-1.5 mpkw), even with preconditioning. My typical driving consists of highway at 70-75mph with cabin temp set around 68, auto 3, and my seat and steering heat on.

At least give us the option of going back to the old GOM formula, @Ford Motor Company. I shouldn't be penalized because some people didn't know what they were buying. This thing is essentially a computer on wheels, so one little check box in the myriad of controls available shouldn't be too hard to include.

I just don't understand why they can't just give percentage, or even better kWh, instead of the range on the dash display.

Calculate DTE for This Trip, Trip 1, and Trip 2 and display with those screens, or with known trailer.

Displaying a meaningless range value doesn't really do anyone any good.

I got back from a road trip yesterday, so my GOM was actually reading pretty accurately (fast charging doesn’t trigger the reset back to EPA range). I decided to set my home charge target below 80% as a test, since 80% is where the GOM seems to go non-linear on AC charging. I was going to set it to 75%, but that is not supported, it jumps from 80% to 70% when lowering the setting. After charging to 70% overnight, the GOM only reads 166 (compared to about 245 at 80%,) so it would appear that keeping the target % below 80% does prevent the reset of recent driving history and give you back a more accurate GOM. Since most days I don’t rack up a lot of miles, I plan to keep it this way and only charge higher when getting ready to leave on a trip.
