According to the manual, when you use the Keyless Entry pad, you can press
5-6 to open the tailgate
7-8 to open the frunk

On my Lariat, when I try this, 7-8 opens the frunk but 5-6 won't open the tailgate.
Has anyone else tried this?

Hey @Ford Motor Company: Looks like you have a bug in your tailgate opening software.

I've also been in touch with someone inside Ford.

While we're at it, as a feature request, settings to customize the keyless entry pad would be nice. I'd love to be able to disable it entirely.
Done. I just reprogrammed your truck for you. Just follow these instructions from page 88 of the manual it the job will be finished. ;)

None of the settings I have seems like it does it, but I am not sure if I've set up a "my key".
Bummer. Mislead by the manual again.
All I could find was under Settings/Vehicle Settings/Door Keypad Codes. You can delete any personal codes but the factory unlock code is hardwired into the vehicle and there doesn’t seem to be an off feature. Having that may save your bacon one day if you lock your keys in the truck, though.

As for MyKey, it’s in the manual too. If you don’t know if you’ve set one up, you haven’t.

Heh... the problem is I don't "know" that code! It is probably in all the books in my glovebox though, which doesn't help if the truck is locked!

FWIW, I wish Ford would give us the ability to turn off a bunch of features. The Alexa stuff, XMRadio, and the 'apple carplay' bottom-token would all be nice to have a 'dont enable this!' button, as well as the keypad.

Many of the truck features can be turned off. Many others can be ignored. Any of the app cards (bottom-token) can be removed by swiping down.

The factory code is on a small plastic card that came with the truck. It should have been in your glovebox, on your visor, or in a package with your keys.

I really encourage you to spend some time with the manual.

Ah! Good to know about the app-cards! The Alexa I'm ignoring well-enough, but the xm-radio seems to keep trying to open when I'm using the steering wheel controls, and I'd prefer if it just weren't an option. I've seen no way to remove it. I know the card is likely in the wrapped-plastic manuals-package that came with the truck, but I've not had a reason to open those yet.

I HAVE flipped through the manual a few times, but obviously the PDF makes this not as easy.

First thing I did on my screen was dismiss Alexa, I had the option for that on my sync4. I think I just clicked on the icon and it took me to its settings. I also immediately saved the keypad code on my phone, it’s very useful and your phone probably has biometric authentication to keep it secure

I just learned from someone within Ford: my Lightning is fine, the 5-6 to open the tailgate doesn’t work in the software at all. It’s was an error to list it in the manual.
