I got an email today from my dealer saying he had five new Lightning orders he could put in today, had to be by the end of day. 1 SR and 4 ER (all Lariats). I texted and called him to nail down a few things . . . turns out it was a new allocation I guess from Ford of the last string of MY22s that they want to build, probably at the end of this year.

The interesting thing about it is, I didn't place a reservation until last August and was not expecting anything until '23 or '24. And I still haven't gotten the official email from Ford inviting me to order. But he said I should by next week once he puts in the preliminary order on his end. He also said no deposit required and that they are MSRP only.

How much of this should I believe? Since there was no additional money required it seemed like a no-brainer to put in the order. When I finalize/customize the order with Ford online next week (assuming that actually happens), will I have to pay an order deposit?

Since I wouldn't be taking delivery until at least November/December, I figured I might as well keep my options open, but I also am wondering if I would be better off just waiting for a MY23.

Anyone else had this happen recently? Any advice? I'm in NJ.

Others on here just got those invitations and a friend near San Diego did too. You should make sure they are selling it to you MSRP and take advantage of the opportunity.

Hey @bpatt533 welcome tot the forum! If the dealer is telling you in writing that they're going to sell it at MSRP and there's no deposit I'd jump at the opportunity. Are you going to with one of the extended range Lariats?

Thanks folks. Yes this would be a carbonized gray ER Lariat. A little more money than I was planning on spending (I would have preferred an XLT originally and I'm not real happy about how the ER forces you into like $30k additional upgrades) and sooner than I was planning to actually get one, so I may still back out or delay things. But there's no question it's an awesome truck! I did get a chance to ride in one back in the fall.

Dealer invitation? I thought the invite emails came from corporate?
I've been waiting for the Summer invites to start up (post wave 6 invites).
Am I wrong on my assumptions?
No, I don't think you're wrong. I was invited to convert my res. to an order in wave 6....only Lariats, and Platinums left, so I extended my res. Kind of think a lot of other folks did the same, leaving Ford with a bunch of higher dollar Lightnings unspoken for. I feel these are now being offered to dealers, to sell to whomever they please. Maybe I'm wrong...

I got a call from my dealer on Wednesday the 8th. From what they told me, Ford gave them a new allocation but it was a Lariat extended range only. Since that was what I wanted anyway, I jumped at the chance. They had 60 reservations at this dealership and only got 7 trucks. I placed my reservation on May 27th, 2021 but I don't know where I was on their list. The sales guy hinted that at least one person ahead of me passed on this $79k truck. I'm still waiting on the email from Ford, they said it would be 72 hours or more before I get it. He also said that this would likely be the last truck they get for 2022 and that I shouldn't expect it before the end of October.

I think we will see more Lightning cancellations as the economy slides towards a recession later this year. Experts are already noticing that layoffs at many companies are on the rise. An $80k Lightning purchase will be placed on the back burner for many reservation holders.

I just got this call from my dealer as well. No markup. Only offering LR Lariat @ $80k. No information as to when I should see email to convert order.
I also got an offer on Friday on Friday. Placed a late November reservation. Lariat ER MY22. Dealer said it was “list” price. Need to confirm.

was expecting to see this until 24-25
Congratulations guys and welcome to the forum!

@lurchw00t are you going to go with the extended range Lariat?

@Dr. Steve Is the offer on the Lariat ER you reserved?

I received a phone call from my dealer last week with similar information. Only a few available. Lariat only. One ER available. They told me I should get an email from Ford this week. I just checked the reservation page. No changes yet.🤞

I'm on the fence. I wanted an XLT, but the price difference isn't that terrible.
Don't straddle the fence long. Dealers that don't fill these slots fast have lost them.

I just got my invitation to order as well. The dealer told me MSRP and no added charges. When should I ask for that in writing, now or after I configure the order?
I would get a signed buyer's order once they put the configured order into their system.
