The Leaf is dead, Ariya is the only EV that Nissan has at the moment. But it's build in Japan. But at least when these two come out there will be credits for those buyers to take advantage of.

The Leaf continues, and is offered in the 2023 models - the Ariya is new, and is not yet available. I suspect with Nissans long history of the Leaf electric models, they will also look at bringing out a Nissan Titan, or Frontier EV, but that remains to be seen.

Agreed, the EV incentives are going to see a hit across the board. But the benefit I notice a lot of people not talking about is the incentive for energy companies to change over to green, and cheaper electricity. This will at some point lower cost of running an EV even more both at charging stations, and at home. I know we have seen here in SC 2 separate rate hikes due to fuel cost increasing. This should as the grid turns to cheaper solar, wind, and even growing nuclear become much cheaper to operate, which will role down to the users. This is key as EV gain market share and volume through out the masses.

I wouldn't doubt there are some crazy regulations that prevent them.....heavily regulated area since typically no competition for a particular provider.

The current orders waiting on delivery are also hit. No credit for extended range lariat models (goes above 80K limit) took effect on 16th.
They did not let 22 tax incentives sunset end of year like usual.
This means anyone that is waiting to get theirs by end of this year counting on the tax credit is screwed. Got to love government changing rules mid game.

But the IRS needs to interpet the new rules for '22.

That paragraph shows which way they're leaning right now. I hope some more favorable regulatory clarification will be forthcoming. You know the manufacturers have to be wanting that transition period.

Here’s the third paragraph. The written binding contract is only applicable to those trying to say they bought before August 16th.


Vehicles Purchased and Delivered between August 16, 2022 and December 31, 2022
If you purchase and take possession of a qualifying electric vehicle after August 16, 2022 and before January 1, 2023, aside from the final assembly requirement, the rules in effect before the enactment of the Inflation Reduction Act for the EV credit apply (including those involving the manufacturing caps on vehicles sold). If you entered into a written binding contract to purchase a new qualifying vehicle before August 16, 2022, see the rule above.

Fantastic point. As someone who's lived in Ontario for most of the last 40 years, I can tell you that the energy picture here is a lot more complicated than this "report" would lead you to believe.
My favourite part is how it completely ignores the presence of hydro-electric generation. A method so common here, we call our electricity "hydro".

Pretty sure the old EV credit had a $500k joint income limit.

I think there currently is no limit on AGI for the current federal EV tax break. If the Build Back Better Act would have passed last year, there would have been a 500k cap on joint filers. So 🤞... I spent a while looking for a resource. It is pretty hard to find which parts of which laws are in effect ... each law strikes and re-writes previous...

Be careful of non peer reviewed "Studies" from sites that have oil execs, and clearly bias on all their information. I read through about 5 of their "studies" and went through the site pretty well and could clearly see some cherry picking of data.
