I went to Bull Valley Ford in Woodstock Illinois to finalize my order.
They wanted $1,000 for the deposit. When I told them I paid $500 online that was designated to their dealership, they said they didn’t have any records of my online payment. My credit card statement shows that they received it…
More disappointing is the “MANDATORY” $500 paint treatment. I explained that I was going to get the truck ceramic coated, and that I didn’t want their paint treatment. The guy said I could not have the truck without it.
I told him I’d think about it and walked out.
I just absolutely hate car dealers. I’m sure there will be more “surprises” before the deal is done.
It just seems wrong that THEY decide what gets applied to my factory paint job. I’m wondering if they want me to walk so they can sell the truck over MSRP.
I never end up having a good experience dealing with car salesmen. I kind of wish Ford would switch to the Tesla model for selling electric cars. The dealer wasn’t there when I reserved my Lightning. They didn’t help me pick the options. They basically did nothing other than piss me off.
We don’t need dealers to be involved in the buying experience.
All this for a truck that was supposed to cost me $45,000 (with tax credits) that now is about $80,000 (Lariat is the only model they would let me order).
This is beyond frustrating.
