I install solar and charging stations for a living. There are many threads with discussions about different charging solutions, of which the numbers keep growing.

Ford provided chargers with '22 models, but now we know that at least the mobile cord will not be coming with '23 models. As somebody who has removed and replaced dozens of Ford branded chargers over the last few years, I would urge anyone purchasing a Ford not buy a Ford branded charger. They are expensive, featured deficient and unreliable.

There are a ton of actually really good chargers on the market, and as an installer I have a few favorites that I will refer to people. Best bang for the buck however? I recommend Tesla chargers (EVSEs). The stout 48 amp wall charger is $400. Add the Tesla to 1772 adapter you need for the lightning, and you are still well under Ford's pricing for one of the best EVSEs on the market.

Tesla's 32a mobile cord is the same power as Fords, however will allow you to draw power from literally any outlet in the world (try that with the Ford unit). Those can be purchased directly from Tesla for $200, for a unit far more feature-rich and reliable than Fords at $500.

Another benefit of going this route? You have the Tesla to 1772 adapter already, and can now draw from tens of thousands of free Tesla destination chargers scattered around the country.

I know the mobile charge is now being charged for, but are ER trucks still getting Ford Charge Station Pro for free? I'll take free over you above charger, even with the bugs.

Where did you see that the mobile cord isn't coming with the '23? When I do the configurator it is included. Can't unselect it. $500.

Any recommendation on adapters from the Tesla Wall Charger?
TeslaTap - Tesla to J-1772 Adapter - 80 AMP https://a.co/d/3PeGjcM

The Tesla tap 80 amp model is pretty expensive. IMHO it is something all EVrs should have however, because of the vast availability of high power Tesla destination chargers.

Much cheaper 50 amp models can be had from Lectron, and will work with the lower power chargers.

I'm totally lost when it comes to charging options. Two problems to solve. I live in about 60 miles from Pittsburgh PA in a mountainous, cold, rural area and my garage is being rebuilt so I must charge outdoors. My F-150 Lightning is being built this week. Any advice? I have a 220 outlet in my basement. Any experts nearby?

Is the 240 outlet a 14-50? If so, any EVSE with the standard 14-50 plug will work. If not, a Tesla mobile cord with the NEMA kit will pull from any version of plug out there. Super easy.

Don't forget your TeslaTap.

/I sure hope the Tesla mobile cord and Tesla Tap will the trick. NEMA KIT ... OK!
It is an ensemble no self-respecting EVer anywhere should be without; the ability to pull max power from any outlet anywhere.
