How the hell do I turn on Hands Free? It came on once for me, all other times, I just get Blue Cruise where I'm forced to keep both hands on the wheel in the exact same position

Hands free only works on certain roads, mostly interstates, at less than 80 mph.

So the same button will activate hands free, but it's dictated by certain roads that Ford says it will work on?

Yep. Exactly. There is a map somewhere.

In the top picture, that indicates that that road is not optimized and you need to keep the hands on the wheel. When everything is blue then the road is optimized and its fully hands free. Not sure if this is the technical answer but what I have found. I have found unless the whole screen is blue, that some roads it has not been safe to use (over corrects and crosses over lines rarely).

Hands free only works on divided highways and only ones that's been mapped by ford.

It looks like bluecruise expires 3 years after activation. Ford will probably go to a subscription model. I wonder how much? $$

I've read $600 for a three year subscription. It's too much but I'll pay for it as long as it continues to improve.

I can definitely live without blue cruise at that price.

When I picked up my truck (Dec 2022), it originally said that my BluCruise subscription to April 2023 (so four months long).

It has since been updated to 3 years. I don't do a lot of highway driving or even distance, so probably wouldn't purchase when it expires.

The date change was probably because the maps are regularly updated.
