No injuries, at least physically. The poor kid who hit me though was already traumatized from being close enough to hear the murders going on at Michigan State this past week. His parents showed up and kept telling him it was just a car, but... Poor kid.

Elektra held up well... Bumper and tailgate, maybe the hitch but can't tell if it's now a bit crooked. His GMC Terrain on the other hand is a mess.

Glad to hear you’re both ok. Hard to see any damage to your Lightning (guessing those sensors & cameras are expensive- hopefully the truck is a-ok too)
Bumper and tailgate will likely both need to be replaced. The sensors didn't yell at me on the drive back home so I think they're probably ok, which is surprising.

Not that there was much doubt since he plowed into me from behind, but if he had been trying to get out of it, this would have clinched it for sure

I feel your pain, was t-boned years ago in my 4 week old truck..just sucks.
This isn't nearly so bad as that, or when my first car right out of college got stolen from work within the first month.... hadn't even made the first payment yet.

Waiting on the insurance agent to call me back at this point. Then we can start talking about where to get it fixed and ensuring that they use Ford parts for everything since it's just shy of being 6 months old.

And the fun begins.... Insurance company called me and is assigning to an adjuster. Asked about diminished value and learned that I need a rider on my policy to have coverage for that since Michigan is the only state in the country where the at-fault driver (or their insurance) isn't required to make me whole. So, my truck probably just took a hit in resale even if it's repaired perfectly. Good thing I was planning on holding onto it for a while anyway.
