Ford Motor Company emailed me today to “Get ready” Orders will start soon they will be sending invitations to order the 2023 F-150 Lighting at staggered times. Nearly all reservation holders are expected to be invited to order by Summer 2023.
Act fast. When you receive an invitation we suggest you act quickly to order, as supply constraints continue to impact availability. The Pro series is sold out for retail customers and the availability of other models remain limited..
How will it work. Each wave of ordering will be open for a limited time. If your invited to place an order and decide not to this time around, we will keep your in open so you can order later. Pricing and availability are subject to change. We hate for you to cancel your reservation, but if you do, you will get a full refund from dealer.
Thanks for riding with us. We appreciate your passion and your patience. We are committed to keep you up to date right up until your F-150 Lighting is plugged in and ready to take this revolutionary leap forward.

I got the same email my reservation was put in Dec 2021 so I'm guessing everyone who hasn't ordered yet got it. I think I will get the invite next summer.:(

Yeah got the email too. At this rate I am hoping to have one in the barn by 01/01/24, lol. The email just might help to deflate the prices in the resale market though. Still blows my mind there are folks out there willing to pay 20-50k if not more for a depreciating asset such as a vehicle, that has already depreciated with the first seller. While I understand that it was inflated due to demand, the demand will wane and so will the aftermarket value. So one pays over sticker now and in six months to year it is worth half what one paid for it. Make no mistake about ladies and gentlemen I love the a capitalist market, get what you can now, I am not hating on no one for taking advantage of it. Like they say there is a sucker born everyday.

I was pretty sure this would be the case, but I was really holding out hope of getting an electric pickup for under $60k. At least now I know that they were never really serious about that.

I am glad to see this. When they did the price increases for the 2023 model, a lot of places were reporting that you wouldn't be able to extend your reservation.

While I am a late (October '21) Ford reservation holder, I am a "same day" reservation holder for the 2024 Silverado EV. I am hoping that order invites for that will also be hitting summer '23 and I'll be near the beginning of those waves. Also, hoping that the competition will help slow the price increases.

No email or text from Ford for this 5/21/21 reservation holder. 🙁

Afternoon update: Ford sent me the What’s Next email after I posted my earlier response. A quick check on my Ford.com account shows nothing has changed there, and I still can’t actually place an order. So the email from Ford appears to be just a teaser.

I got that same email yesterday, I have a 5/20/21 reservation. I wanted a pro. Only option now is a truck nearly twice as expensive. No invitation to order yet.
Side note, I am invested in F so I have less discretional funds to pay for the truck now since some fat head on WS says Ford has an "oversupply" problem now...

So? You can't order yet?

I actually ordered my truck before I got an email to order my truck. And got a text about 24 hours before the email.
Order waves have been on Thursdays lately but you may be able to order sooner. Keep checking the website.

I am guess that you are new to electric vehicles. There is a reason for the demand! Almost all of them are worth the same or more than the original purchase price. They do not depreciate like ICE vehicles and the battery that is warrantied for 10 years has been lasting twice that. I have a 2014 and 2017 FFE and my husband has a 2020 Kia Niro EV which is worth more now than what he paid. All of them are running great and so inexpensive to maintain with no oil changes or other maintenance. We have solar panels and Telsa Powerwall house batteries so we charge at home and pay less for our solar green loan than we did for our electric bill. I am planning to get the extended range battery so I can charge our house in an extended power outage, which happens in our area. The last power outage lasted a few hours and every house in our neighborhood went dark except for us and our neighbor since we both have battery backups. The neighbor had all his lights on and stereo blasting and had no idea that the power went out. I love the battery backup because I don't worry about the stuff in the refrigerator, the power surge on electronics or needing to reset any clocks! The F150 Lightning will just power the house even longer!!! The suckers are the ones repeating the erroneous talking points propagated by the fossil fuel industry and will be on the wrong side of history

I think he was talking about the inflated above-MSRP prices that people are asking. Yes, EVs are holding their value well, but if you pay over MSRP you are not likely to see or make that money back.

That is why I switched my reservation to a dealer that will honor MSRP. The dealers near me are quoting 420-25K over MSRP and that is just wrong. They are listing their Pro demo model at $40K over MSRP and I am sure someone will pay that to have an awesome that they cannot buy if they do not have a reservation. I think the F150 Lightning will hold it's value well, even at elevated prices, because people are paying a lot of money many large vehicles like the Hummer. Many people are using tax code 179 to write off the cost of the vehicle for business use, so that will make them pay a lot for this vehicle since they can write it off, no matter what they pay for it. I am more upset that the Federal tax rebate will not apply after this year due to the change in the law requiring domestic assembly. That will make it less affordable to many that would like purchase the truck and not sure when Ford will be able to meet that requirement in the future model years when the new assembly plants are operational. The bill should of given the EV manufacturers time to adjust and not punish the consumers for something that they have no control over.

I got the email yesterday as well and this morning the dealership called to say that I will be ordering in the first wave, They said I will receive an email or to keep checking my ford account. Still waiting.
Beware of what dealers tell you. The first wave was in August. The fourth wave is coming up now.
