I like what Ford did with the latest software update. The sliding controls for the heat, etc. were not useful. Glad they just went to a button and I like using the volume knob for controlling various functions.
The UI looks more modern.
It seems like Ford was listening to customer feedback.

Might be a dumb question but how do you know what version software you’re actually running? I’ve looked everywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I tend to disagree on it looking more modern. While I appreciate the UX update on the climate controls, and the persistence buttons on top, they removed functionality and added icons that make it look more outdated IMO (ie more icons and less typeset). For example, you used to be able to reduce the screen size for CarPlay to get more info from the cards on the bottom. That option is gone now and the cards do not show as much info. I also noticed some of the navigation cards that were linked to CarPlay no longer work. If it wasn’t broken, why get rid of it?

I also wish Ford would make better use of the giant screen by giving more ability to multitask or have multiple windows open such as maps and music at the same time.

I haven't got that update yet, you must have a newer lightning. Mine arrived June 2022.

I agree, Great update. I especially like the new camera button at the top of the screen. Nice job Ford, thanks.

I haven't got that update yet, you must have a newer lightning. Mine arrived June 2022.

I received my truck on June 1st and my Sync 4A update last friday.

But, I would like decide what cards/tiles/icons are up top, always show, or never show -- for example, I don't need apple car play or anything under Entertainment.

Anyone know if this can be done, and if so, how?

Apparently those of us who have the 2023 versions that are not working properly with Ford Pass cannot get that update. Ford Pass and my dealer both say "they're working on it" ... but it's been 5 weeks since delivery and Ford Pass still doesn't work in my truck. Patience Grasshopper ...

Received my update at work around lunch time on 1/28/23. It's better. Still learning it. I like that the rotary dial has multiple functions now.

No, not yet. I was upgraded to the one right before this one, but not this one yet.

I've had to disconnect my 12v twice for Ford Pass to connect correctly. Per Ford, this is a known issue they are working on for the '23s.

The one update I did get was after a night on a 12v trickle charger. I plan on putting that on again, tonight and see what happens.

I'd love to hear your results. I know that Ford is aware of the problem ... it's just that I'm in my 6th week of Ford being "aware" of the problem and it still doesn't work.

Dealer couldn't get my ford pass going either in my 2023 so I held the check and they had a factory rep fix it in a few days on the dealer lot. Dave in NC

Flick down tiles you don’t want to discard them. If you don’t reopen then, they won’t come back.

My 2023 ER Lariat is back in the shop today for another attempt at fixing Ford Pass. I’m not optimistic based on several failed tries thus far. Loaner is a Mach E … so at least I get to try that one on for size.

Anyone else's apps freeze up?

When I go from my music to my podcast player, it becomes nonresponsive about every other time.

I can still access the other screens, so it is only the apps that seem locked up.

UPDATE: FORD sent an engineer to my dealer to try and resolve the problem with my 2023 ER Lariat's inability to connect properly to Ford Pass. They kept it for 4 days and finally returned it saying that their testing showed a bad module that needed to be replaced ... problem is; it's on backorder. Discouraging news but when I got in the truck I realized that they had updated my software (so the new UI is working) and also Ford Pass is working as far as I can tell. Blue Cruise is working now but wasn't before this. I don't know what is not working ??? So, mark me confused about the whole Ford Pass problem with 2023 Lightnings. My dealer said that all 2023's have the problem.
