I love my Lightning and hate to pick but…opening the Frunk has three piercing beeps. Wish I could turn them off. I feel like they wake the neighbors. Am I wrong? Anyone know if there is a way to disable it or at least lower the sound?
If there is a way to disable them it is likely through Forscan. Very well known tool for modifying things like this on the ICE trucks. As of now the developers of Forscan do not have the updates they need for the Lighting. This is discussed elsewhere. We'll need a few guinea pigs (and there are guys already working with them) to send a VIN and as built data so they can properly update Forscan. Once the tool is able to successfully connect to the truck, then we'll have to know which bits need to be tweaked to turn sounds on or off. Learn about and use Forscan at your own risk.

It’s extremely annoying. Super loud. Maybe one quieter beep as a warning would be fine. If every SUV with an electric tailgate made that noise people would loose their mind. If there ever is an update for this please let me know.

I'll agree, and, unfortunately, our Rear Hatch on our brand New KIA SORENTO PHEV makes the same LOUD Multi-beep noises when you are simply opening the rear hatch - and, to add insult to injury, but maybe for better/safer reason, it does the same when you ask it to close. I get the need to 'warn' someone of impending danger, but sometimes it's just a little overkill. If someone is going to be potentially 'hurt', they would be close enough to hear even the faintest of warnings - we don't need to wake the neighborhood, or the rest of the parking lot.

There should be some logic to it. If the opening is commanded by remote, beep away. There might be someone in the way... If the opening is requested by physically pushing the button on the frunk or tailgate, then no beeping is required. Our Volvo tailgate works like that. Push the button on the remote or the button next to the driver and it beeps. Push the button on the tailgate itself and no beeping.

Yes. Super loud and annoying. Especially late at night in the neighborhood or camping in the woods. There should be an unlatch only option in case you don’t want to open it fully.

I realized this when I needed to get a cord out of the frunk with the truck in the garage. As it started to open I realized it wasn’t going to clear a shelf on the back wall. I practically had to hang on it with a lot of force to get it to abort the open attempt at which time it reversed and closed. No manual option as far as I can tell.

I like this logic. I’ve found the opening beeping to be unnecessary.

Seems like after using the frunk for the last couple of weeks, today I’m noticing a slightly different sound when closing. Seems like it lowers as normal then when it gets to the latching point, it has to pull the front grill in to finish the latching process. Almost like something is not aligned as it was before. The frunk still closes fine just different noises than what I’m used to. Anyone confirm theirs does this same thing at latching, or a video of your frunk closing would be great.

The pull at the end of the close cycle, where it appears to “breath in” and pull the latch tight, has been consistent since day one and is the same as the other example I have witnessed. However, I only have about 50 open/close cycles of pattern, so if yours changed after 100 or more cycles, my report is irrelevant.

As an interesting postscript, I am still not used to having that storage, and forget to vacuum in the Frunk when at the car wash!

I was going to store more of my hunting gear in the frunk but I'm not about to open that thing at 0-dark-hundred. Every deer and neighbor for blocks will hear it!

My thanks to @jwillia6 for finding this elsewhere.

Hey there guys! Will from MegaOhm Motorsports here! I finally was able to get my hands on a Lightning again for development and dug into getting rid of the Frunk Beeper that you all hate. It took my buddy and I a couple of hours to pinpoint where it was coming from and located it. Here is a picture of the "Speaker" (looks like a relay) which is actually a buzzer. Heres the best part: ITS A CODE FREE MOD! Just unplug it and go! Hope this helps a lot of you here!

The location: Hard to put in words, so here is a picture. About a foot to the right of the Passenger headlight.

How to get access:
1) Remove the Frunk - this is actually pretty easy to do. Remove the two side covers. This is where I was really impressed with some new changes. They didn't use a bunch of those 1 time use Christmas tree body pins, these ones twist to unlock, completely tool free! Once those covers are out of the way, remove the two 13mm bolts at the forward two corners. They are in a recess but easily findable. The two smaller panels next to the headlights just pull straight out, just be easy since they are plastic clips.

I think this was 6 T45 Torx bolts. The ones with the hooks have o-rings so be sure not to lose them as they provide a seal. There are 4 visible as soon as you open the frunk and 2 more under the lid.

Remove 2 of these 13mm bolts on each side of the frunk tub. This cross member is bonded to the frunk tub. On the passenger side, disconnect the tub harness connector. once disconnected you can pull the tub out. It helps to have a second set of hands to lift the tub out of the truck, its awkward and a bit heavy since its heavy fiber reinforced plastic.

With all the panels, faarrrsteners and tub removed, you can access the speaker. If you look at the first two photos in the post, it'll point out the location. Below are some shots of the speaker harness breakout. They kind of have it wrapped under the harness, and under the plastic reinforcement bar and the speaker is held in with a flimsy christmas tree fastener thats molded into the speaker. Just collapse the fins and push it through, and find a way to route the speaker out of there and finally disconnect it from the harness. Sucker was hidden well!
