I've found that if I open the frunk from the key fob, the button won't work to close it. I have to use the key fob to close it.

If I open the frunk with the button on the dashboard, the button on the frunk will close it. Seems like there must be some setting that's doing this but I can't find it.

Anyone else have a frunk button that doesn't always work?
I find that the open frunk will not close with the button, but only occasionally. I have a feeling if I go to the dealership, it will work.
Which button is causing issues?

How do you get it closed if the button isn't closing it? Does the fob or the interior button work?

FWIW the experience in post #2 mimics my dealer experience when I first drove the demo. He opened it with the fob, and the button on the frunk wouldn't close it. Fob worked, though. I forgot about this until just now.

I think there might be a time delay on it. I’ve had that happen to me a few times. I notice when I get something out quick it doesn’t work right away, but when it’s open a little longer it works.
There is sometimes a brief delay. However, other times I've had it beep and not open/close on the first press. However, it has always worked on the second press. IMHO it is not worth a trip to the dealer.

I can close it with the interior button, the Fob or just pull it down until the truck decides to take over the task.

Does it work when you press it a second time?
I am never in a patient mood when this happens, I usually just hit the Fob or wait until I am in the truck and hit the interior button.
At one point, it would not close, it was giving me some message but I don't remember what it was, something ambiguous yet stating the obvious with no solution, so I rapidly pressed the interior button twice and it closed.

It wouldn't close when I went to the dealer to pick up my bed liner. The salesperson shrugged but didn't say anything and this was the first time I had experienced it at that point so I thought it was a fluke.

I did think that I broke this a few weeks ago, frunk wouldn't move. I had closed it with too much in it and it didn't fully latch. I could open, but it wouldn't close on its own. After reading the manual, I had to manually pull it closed at which point it latched itself, and then started working again.

Please take this with a grain of salt, because I haven't experimented with it a whole lot, but I believe you can always open/close it with the fob when it is in park and you are outside the vehicle, can open/close it with the buttons on the frunk when the fob is nearby and the vehicle is in park and unlocked, and can open/close it from the button inside the vehicle when in park and the fob is in the cabin. I believe if you open it from inside the truck, you have to close it from inside the tuck, if you open from the outside buttons, you have to close it from the outside buttons, etc. The only possible exception to the foregoing is that I think the fob will aways close it when in park. Again, I haven't played with it a lot, but this has been my experience so far.... I imagine it has all kinds of if/then rules so someone couldn't walk up to your parked vehicle while you were in it and open (or close) your frunk, someone in a crosswalk couldn’t open it while you're sitting at a red light, you couldn't accidentally activate it when in motion, etc....

I think you are right.
If the truck is locked, the button does not work.
I usually arrive at the truck with stuff to put in the frunk and open it with the fob. I try to close it with the button, get in and drive away, but I haven't unlocked the truck yet so the button won't work. Now when I approach the truck I unlock it as well as open the frunk, the button works every time.

I am new to this forum as I have been on the other one for awhile. But we have an issue crop up today and I am looking to see if anyone has had this issue.
So the wife drove the XLT today that we have had for just over a week. She made a couple of stops. Once used the outside button to open the Frunk and once used the KeyFob since the truck was locked.
When she came home, we attempted to open the Frunk with the button as it was unlocked and in the garage. We have done this many times with no issue, just like her earlier errand. Now the button wont open the Frunk, but the Button on the dash, KeyFob and in the menus will.
We did a power cycle, truck on and off, and The 2 button push, but looks like that just does the screen.

We are hoping that the long sleep overnight will cure the issue.

I have read the thread above. Has this issue cleared for you?

I've found that the lid has to be closed all the way so It doesn't get stuck when you put it in gear.
So are you saying so that the frunk doesn’t get stuck open?
Or are you saying so that the button doesn’t get disabled and confused?
Cuz my wife did start the truck while the Frunk was in motion. But I wouldn’t think that would be the issue, but with all these computers…

So someone on the other forum posted the answer. 🤦‍♂️

“The Frunk button is like the locking tailgate and the back doors. All the doors need to be unlocked and not just the drivers door for you to open or close the Frunk with the external button.”
