Has anyone else received an email like this from their dealership? I saw this in one of the Facebook groups. Apparently the order banks for the Lightning might not open until December.
Could this be due to semiconductor chip shortages?
I guess we'll all find out tomorrow if orders start or we have to wait. Fingers crossed that it's the former.Unlikely as that would push back delivery plans. I suspect it is due to uncertainty over the Reconciliation Bill before Congress. The climate portion could contain language on new BEV purchase incentives that could influence buying patterns (rebates based on MSRP, etc.). It makes sense for Ford to wait out that uncertainty.
No surprise. Ford never announced it was opening tomorrow either. It appears that because of this post every truck/ev/auto forum is reporting that ordering banks are being delayed. guess we'll see. FORD itself is silent. I do note that the Lightning FAQ on the Ford web site states that those with a reservation will be notified before the order banks open. It appears tha no one has gotten that email so it looks like we'll wait a while longer.
Thanks @SnBGC!On Ford's Fleet site, there is a DNB issued on 10/22/21 revised that says the Lightening BEV is TBD.
I think it previously said Oct 26th for order banks opening.

When I check for the Order Guide, there isn't anything posted yet.

Ford responds to Lightning reservation holders
Emma Bergg, Ford’s spokesperson for the F-150 Lightning, tried to put any doubts or speculation to rest.
“We are excited to have more than 150,000 reservations for the F-150 Lightning,” she said. “We have not yet communicated a date for when customers will start to be invited to convert their reservation to order.”
Bergg also said any previous conversion date was never anything more than an estimation, and Ford has yet to finalize a date. She also confirmed what was stated in the letter: Production for the Lightning has not been delayed and “deliveries will begin in spring 2022.”
