The Lightning has been named one of TIME's Best Inventions of 2022 for "Making Electric Trucks Mainstream."

Ford’s F-150 Lightning is brawny and brainy—and a boon to the environment. An all-electric version of the nation’s best-selling vehicle, the truck can pull up to 10,000 pounds while recalculating the vehicle’s remaining range based on the actual towing experience. From an onboard generator that powers jobsites to “Intelligent Backup Power” that keeps homes’ lights on during outages, “every invention was purpose-driven,” says Linda Zhang, Lightning’s chief engineer. Able to cover 230 miles on one charge (more with an extended range battery), the Lightning has had a long waiting line since first rolling off production lines in April.
