Very cool! I hit a big heave in the road today with my '23 Lightning and it didn't handle it all the well, a little underdamped and bouncy with a bit of harshness. Now, don't get me wrong, the Lightning rides pretty good, but if you hit big bumps at speed you'll quickly feel the limitations of the suspension.

I traded a '19 Raptor (awesome truck!) for my '23 Lightning and I could hit that same big heave at probably 30mph faster than I did today and it was a total nonevent. In short, the Raptor suspension is amazing.

I would love an electric Raptor truck with 700hp and a 600 mile range battery. I'd buy the heck out of that after now knowing how awesome electric propulsion is with a nice truck.

I love the Lightning as much as every other enthusiast on this forum. But Raptorizing it is a bad idea for one specific reason: weight. A Lightning is somewhere in the neighborhood of 1,500 lbs heavier than a comparable ICE F150, and that's not even considering the added weight from the beefier hardware that the Raptor brings (e.g., shocks with reservoirs, skid plates, stronger control arms, etc.). There are other reasons why a Lightning Raptor will likely not happen anytime soon (price being one of them, and range being another), but for folks who want something that is optimized for serious off-roading, the Lightning's weight makes it less than optimal.

Let's see (and hope for) better battery technology that improves energy density and then hope that Ford introduces a Lightning Raptor at that time.

That's still 300+ extra lbs. And this was a SR Lightning, which means lower output and range. An ER Lightning, with higher output and range, is going to add a few hundred more lbs because of the bigger battery. So we're talking, realistically, about 500 lbs. extra.

For context, check out the recent comparisons between the new Raptor R and the Ram TRX (here's a recent one: Ford F-150 Raptor R vs. Ram 1500 TRX: The 700-HP Brawl!). The consensus is that the Raptor R is better in virtually every way, including its notably better acceleration. The reason why is because the Raptor R weighs 700 lbs less. So while the weight difference between a Lightning Raptor and stock Raptor might not be quite as large, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a delta in terms of their performance that was comparable to the Raptor R vs. TRX.

The entire Lightning line is way overpriced. I'm sure $80k is what Ford would try to get for it, but that's not what the vehicle is actually worth in utility for me. I'm not buying something priced like a status symbol, I'm buying a useful transportation tool or not buying at all.

Just FYI, ran numbers against my co-workers 2021 F-150 XLT with the 3.5 ecoboost over 100,000 miles with him using premium fuel, but getting an average of 20mpg against my electric cost at my house.

Long story short, I will literally save $15,000 over my co-worker in 100,000 miles with the cost of fuel versus cost of electricity. That is significant and really closes the gap against the gas powered F-150's. Then, factor in the lack of maintenance (no oil changes and other BS) and better driving characteristics of the Lightning and it can become a compelling proposition to many people.
