I don't think it'll sell for more. People keyed into auction sales for a vehicle like that already know about the auction. As far as I know, there aren't tens of thousands of auctions with limited EVs running daily. Anytime I've been involved in a niche vehicle and auctions related to that niche vehicle, it's the same crowd at all the auctions and the few who aren't keyed in aren't going to be the highest bidders.

Also, the highest bid of the last auction is going to set the ceiling on the next bid. That 116K is effectively market rate now. Someone isn't going to start offering 10-15K more when they didn't the first time. Things have the most value in their initial pop--I've never known anyone trying to auction something off wanting to bring it to multiple auctions.

It's more likely they didn't want to sell it and just putting it up for auction with an unreasonable reserve price to see what the market conditions are.

Welcome to the forum @Brew. I think you are right. Sometimes it's just a matter of visibility to reach a really motivated buyer that wants a Lightning more than they want a good deal.

BTW has your dealer been charging a markup on the Lightning?

I agree with this sentiment. I just think the really motivated buyers in that category were already at this auction. But it's true there may be one or more out there still to be found

My dealer tells me they aren't charging a markup and there's none noted on my order form so far. I won't know until August after it gets built, though!

I think that FTC NPRM covers scummy practices in the F&I office and DAOs, not ADM. Of course, many Lightning order holders should fear showing up at the dealer only to find out that their trucks have been scratched, I mean etched, ceramic'ed, nitro-tired, PFAS ScotchGuard upholstered, etc. for the low, low, price of $7500.
