I will say, in the same vein as GDN, I can appreciate a company that does ignore carplay or android auto (as long as their map is as good as google maps). But Ford is not there. There stuff is better than some I've used but if you are getting the Lightning and expecting anywhere near the level of Tesla or Rivian; you will be disappointed.
I'm just happy in the Mach E (not sure if it is specific to Sync 4) that you can still use the manufacturer navigation when Android Auto/CarPlay are linked up. I have Sync 3 in my mustang and I don't always have location turned on with my phone and I'm locked out of the integrated nav system when it is linked up.
If the question "why use it then" comes up it is because that is my phone, my contacts etc are already in it. I'm still wishy washy on "allowing" the car to have access to my contacts and anything else. The message and call feature in Android Auto is solid. (I don't like Ford's voice command, it did not improve, imo, from 3 to 4)
