WAIT!!! Sunrun will contact the customer within 5 days of the sale to arrange shipping! So it looks like weeks before I actually get the charge station and get it installed? Please tell me I am reading this wrong. I want the equipment invoiced AND paid for on my window sticker delivered with the vehicle. I do not and cannot get a Sunrun installation even if I wanted to (I do not).

Did Ford screw this detail up this big with the Mach E?

I'm sure the dealer will be happy to keep your truck on the showroom floor until you get the CSP. Watch out for those rivets in jeans. I learned that the hard way when my special order 2013 came in and they didn't notify me.

I'm pretty sure you'll get a 32 A unit packed with the truck.

Hmmm. So I will need my electrician to temporarily put a 240 plug in and then have them come back and hardwire the charge station whenever Sunrun decides to ship it. Between this and the changing interior color Ford is starting to piss me off. Much more and the truck may stay at the dealer permanently.

You can just use a 120v outlet. But if you already have the line for the 240v then yea, put that plug in. That's what I use now with the Mach E.

BTW, why would you need them to redo the hardwire?

I believe the Ford charge station pro is hardwired. To be able to use the truck in the meantime (until the fcsp arrives) I would need to have the electrician install a 240 plug to charge using the portable unit that should be in the truck at delivery. Charge on 120v, hahaha if you use the truck once a week maybe that would work.

Not saying it is optimal but we used 120v plug for at least 10 months before we got the 240v installed.

I was able to go through the ordering process up through pushing the button to buy it. I didn't. I'll wait for the market to shake out a bit. I already have a beefy 30 Amp extension cord for the poor man's backup system.

I am in a state SunRun does not service and I ordered the Home Integration system from the AEE express website when it was first available to order (there had to be a “Ford Customer” sign in option created before anyone could order) and it says expected ship date is Nov. 1st. Also I’m paying the same price for a 4KW solar inverter that comes with the system as some customers in other states who are getting the 10 KW inverter that it’s advertised with. Very messed up situation and frustrating to say the least. Worst of all if you try to find out info and you are not in a service state, they basically won’t talk to you…and FORD has 0 information to provide you because SunRun is who this all falls back on.

I've been thinking about a 30 amp extension cord to start as I have a nema 15-40 dryer plug I don't use close to the garage. How safe is that?

All of these inverters will supply the same 9.6 KW that the Lightning can produce during power outages. The difference between E4, E6, E8, &E10 is the amount of DC power that they convert to AC when they are on the grid. In our specific case we already have 21 SunPower panels with micro inverters. Going to Lightning replacing a Sonata Plug-in Hybrid we will consume more KWs, so we opted to add an additional 8 panels from SunRun. Those panels will make up the difference, but do not require the E10 inverter; thus, connecting with the E4.

I really like the idea of charging by solar. I've tried and tried to put together numbers that make sense for me but the startup cost is just too great. Have to want to do it for reasons other than economics. Hopefully that changes in coming years.
