Hello everyone,

I reserved my lightning August 2021. Today I finally got my email today stating that I can order my lightning. However as everybody else knows the prices went up a lot more than originally expected. They said I have until January to order. Does anybody know what happens if I don’t place my order before the end of order date. I’m still tossing it up now that the vehicles have gone up 10,000–15,000 dollars in price, and you can no longer order the pro since it’s “out of stock“ Thanks for any information you can provide.

Congratulations!

Based on the latest ordering information found on this video:
You should have until August 31 to order. However, if you miss the January deadline, you may not actually get a MY2023 truck. Also, some prices just went up again. The longer you wait the greater the chance of another price hike. After January you may also lose some options of what you can order.

I also finally got my invite after waiting since my 5/20/21 reservation. I need confirmation from the dealer to make sure that they will honor MSRP and delivery. Once I get that confirmation, I will order since once the order is placed, I cannot switch the dealership. The price is much higher but I am hoping the bill in the Senate will pass and allow a few years for the IRA to take effect for EV rebates 🤞

I just got my text message right now, I can order, I have been back and forth on deciding to get it or not. Right now I am not concerned too much with towing range, I am not too concerned with Cold weather range. It’s total battery life. Is the battery going to be dead in 8-10 years and would the Truck have any value at that point.

The battery is warrantied for 10 years and who knows what the battery price will be then. I have a 2014 Ford Focus Electric and the battery is still doing great :)

I got my second "invite to order" today. My first one came in mid-November, and I was given until December 1st to place the order. I couldn't justify purchasing a Lightning, as much as I'd like to -- just bought an F-150 Powerboost in February.

After you click "Configure & Order" you get the following page, which has the "Configure your truck" button.

Car Tire Vehicle Wheel Motor vehicle

Right above that button it says: "If you decide not to place an order this time around, we’ll keep your invitation open so you can order in a later wave."

I wasn't sure that was going to happen after I let the first invite time-out. But after getting a second invite today I see it does indeed keep you on the list.

I also got a text 1.5 hours ago with an invitation to order. My PRO reservation was 5/21/2021.

The 2022 PRO with Tow & Trailer packages started out at $46,209, but today I'm looking at $68,964 for an XLT with Tow & Trailer packages. I cannot justify the $22K price difference, and that doesn't account for the loss of the $7500 federal tax rebate.

You’ll still get the $7500 federal tax credit as long as the MSRP doesn’t exceed $80k, glad to see the XLT model is available again.

Just a quick tip, I’m sure the XLT model will NOT last long especially since the PRO model is now only a few thousand different in price and the XLT is the highest trim with options that will qualify for the federal tax credit unless you get a base Lariat with mount any options

I had read only $3750 will be available in 2023 for the assembly requirement, but not the battery sourcing requirement. In any case, this is moot if I'm mainly trying to decide between waiting for a 2024 PRO next year or ordering a 2023 XLT in the next few weeks.

Thanks for the tip - the PRO with Towing and Trailer came out to $62,019. ~$7K is quite a markup to upgrade from vinyl to cloth seats.

Edit: Removed upgrade from steel to alloy wheels - both PRO and XLT have 18" alloy wheels.

Close: 8 years or 100,000 miles

Since Ford promises to replace any battery that is at less than 70% of rated capacity before the end of the warranty, you can be sure Ford expects these batteries to last well beyond 10 years.

Where did you read this? Everything I've seen so far says $3750 will be available and it is still undetermined if it will make the battery sourcing requirement.

For 2022 and purchased by 12/31/2022 is it Base MSRP under $80K without options. Or is it total MSRP with options? I know this was in thread on here somewhere. I just can’t find it and a solid answer

The solid answer would come from the IRS and they haven't spoken on this issue yet:

Got to love the lack of detail from IRS.
I don't think there's a whole lot of wiggle room away from the final MSRP listed on the Monroney Label without some really generous guidance that would have to be given to IRS by someone else:
11) MANUFACTURER’S SUGGESTED RETAIL PRICE LIMITATION.—

‘‘(A) IN GENERAL.—No credit shall be allowed under subsection (a) for a vehicle with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price in excess of the applicable limitation.

‘‘(B) APPLICABLE LIMITATION.—For purposes of subparagraph (A), the applicable limitation for each vehicle classification is as follows:

‘‘(i) VANS.—In the case of a van, $80,000.

‘‘(ii) SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES.—In the case of a sport utility vehicle, $80,000.

‘‘(iii) PICKUP TRUCKS.—In the case of a pickup truck, $80,000.

‘‘(iv) OTHER.—In the case of any other vehicle, $55,000.

‘‘(C) REGULATIONS AND GUIDANCE.—For purposes of this paragraph, the Secretary shall prescribe such regulations or other guidance as the Secretary determines necessary for determining vehicle classifications using criteria similar to that employed by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of the Energy to determine size and class of vehicles.’’.
(C) guidance seems limited to determination of the type of vehicle if there's a question. Ex., if Chevy Bolt EUV had an MSRP over $55,000. Is it an SUV ($80k) because GM gave it name like one, or an "OTHER" ($55k) because it's not an SUV? Use EPA and/or DoE's findings.

I stand corrected. I forgot that it would be delivered after Dec 31, 2022 so the assembly requirement expires and it would be battery sourcing and critical materials at $3750 each.

The configurator is still teasing $7500 in rebates.

Does Ford know if the battery meets the the requirements for the full $7500 rebate?

Last word is they are awaiting final rules from the IRS.
