Getting your seats etc completely soaked with dirty water is likely the main issue early on. As your vehicle ages and joints slowly crack open then water might be more of an issue.

-My manager is a Chemical Engineer and worked in batteries manufacturing she told me that if the seal is compromised and water gets in they will catch on fire and nothing can put them out. The Florida officials have stored all EV that were flooded during Ian in a checker board formation with 30’ around each vehicle knowing if they do go they let them burn, because they can’t make them out. Not sure if any burned due to damage and compromised seal.

Oh God.
:cautious:
"Catch fire and nothing can put them out".

Yes, the fire can be put out. It is true that some chemistries and designs are more prone to a reaction with water, and large multi-celled packs can be a challenge to get to the fire, but foam, CO2, powder graphite, ABC dry chemical, or sodium carbonate all put out Lithium fires.

The "can't out the fire out" is a very tired drum-beat popular with EV negativists.

Sounds like your manager is believing conspiracy theories.

There are YouTube videos, podcasts and articles posted on this forum where fire safety experts point out that there is no magic to putting out BEV battery fires, it only takes water. The bad part is it takes lots and lots of it. The best way to put out a lithium battery fire? A dunk tank.
