I found this forum while researching the tax credit as there seems to be a lot of confusion as to whether the Lightning will qualify under the current tax law. Hopefully the tax credit will still be available when I take delivery later this year. The Lightning will be replacing my 2007 Honda Ridgeline as I have been waiting for an electric truck with good range.

Welcome!

It's not so much confusion as wondering just when Ford will reach 200,000 vehicles sold. The best estimate is currently Q3 but Q2 is possible.

Thank you!

To clarify, if the 200,000 is reached in Q2, the phase out period begins so the tax credit is cut in half to $3,750. Is that correct? I was part of Phase 5, so I won't take delivery until Q3.

Not quite. See details here:

I don't find Larry Lynch's videos to be the most reliable when it comes to facts about the trucks.
His presentation wasn't great. The most I got out of it is that because of the low numbers for the first quarter that looks hopeful for the credit to last longer than expected.

Buyers who had reservations were eligible in phases to place orders, starting early 2022.

Thank you for the link.

Welcome! They weren't "phases", they were "waves" (Ford's word), that's why the question was asked. You should poke around this forum for a while - I think you will find answers to any question you might have. #ChasingCoral is the Admin and knows more than anyone, as far as I can tell, so he's a great source of accurate info.

I am saying good bye to everyone. Joning this forum was a mistake and it reminded me why I closed down my facebook, twitter, and other social media account. (Hopefully "closed down" is the right word and does not cause Obi66 to correct some unimportant point. Wave and phase mean the same thing in this context. Duh.) There are too many very petty people on social media and that makes it unpleasant. I have disabled all notifications so I will not see the nasty replies. I wish you all well.

Yes, the OP is gone, but to answer his example, though unlikely that Ford reaches 200,000 sales in Q2
2022-Q2 4/1 to 6/30, credit of $7500
2022-Q3 7/1 to 9/30, credit of $7500
2022-Q4 10/1 to 12/31, credit $3750
2023-Q1 1/1 to 3/31, credit $3750
2023-Q2 4/1 to 6/30, credit $1875
2023-Q3 7/1 to 9/30, credit $1875
2023-Q4 10/1 and beyond, no credit $0.00
