So I called Ford again and this time got an Advanced tech. The tech said my phone got flagged as "jailbroken or rooted". My phone has never been jailbroken/rooted, but the tech remarked that installing a software update "too soon" on your phone can trigger this lockout because their system doesn't recognize the iOS version.

At any rate, 9 days later, they said they'll escalate the ticket through another team and it will take another 24-48hrs.

I am not opposed to Ford having API restrictions around unauthorized apps, but they have to have a better system than this. It should not take me a web chat and 2 phone calls and still be locked out of my account.

Hey! This time they unlocked the account 4 hours later. No additional call or anything to explain what the exact culprit is. We shall see if it sticks.

It feels to me like whatever they’re doing to detect OptiWatt and unauthorized apps is a little too sensitive and normal users are getting caught up too.

I wish there was a better process for restoring access, it doesn’t make sense why the first phone call or chat resulted in tickets that didn’t move, and this third time generated a ticket that got immediately resolved on a Saturday even!
