So I’ve never used another service and since last Wednesday my account has been locked with this error. I have tried calling Ford and chatting them, both say they opened a ticket and gave me the 3-5 day quote, but unfortunately I am still locked out. Does anyone know if there’s a better way to escalate this?
i am still waiting on mine to be unlocked as well. They keep telling me that their is so many it is just taking them time. Im on two weeks now.
Are you calling +1 (833) 385-0512?

Yeah that’s one of the numbers I’ve called but I’m not at all convinced if a ticket is really filed or they’re just saying that to get me off the phone.

I have only ever used the FordPass app, not sure why I got locked out.

As posted above, I disconnected Recurrent back on November 20th. I just got locked out again. More to follow.
Good news: I'm back in my Ford.com and FordPass now.

Yesterday morning I was sitting in a tree stand, hunting deer, and I received the mystery email from IBMCloud.com telling me I was now FALSE again. I checked my FordPass app and Error code CSIAH0320E had struck again.

I was locked out of my Lightning. Fortunately, the pillar and start codes worked. Otherwise, I would have been literally locked out in the cold.

Since yesterday I've exchanged over 30 emails with Smartcar, Recurrent, and Optiwatt. I had a 30 minute call with Victor Black, Director of Customer Success at Smartcar.

Recurrent had shut down all polling of my system on November 20th (the first incident). Smartcar confirmed that. However, it seems an Optiwatt account that was polling Marlin (My Mach E) was the issue.

Here's the thing: I've never had an Optiwatt account. Smartcar and Optiwatt wouldn't tell me who set that account up but did tell me it was set up before Marlin was delivered. That Optiwatt account was apparently still trying to contact Marlin. I've been assured by Optiwatt and Smartcar that offending account has now been deleted as well.

So, I reached back out to my contact at Ford and I'm back online. Fortunately PaaK is still working on Marlin. Sherman (my Lightning) is in the shop getting a malFrunktion fixed. I'll check his PaaK when I get him back.

Now the real mystery is who set up that Optiwatt account? Why? How?

Do you mean Alexa in the truck or are you using Alexa to control a home-automation system to control the truck?

Have you signed up for any of the following services:
  • Optiwatt
  • Recurrent
  • ev.energy
  • ABRP (OTA live data)
  • Tronity
  • Charge Smart MA
  • SmartCharge Rewards
  • other utility control apps
  • FordPass plugins for HomeBridge or Home Assistant
  • third-party or home-grown widgets.
If so, you have figured out how you shared the API.

Alexa in my home. I was able to ask her to start my truck without getting my phone out.
How did you give Alexa access to the truck to enable remote start?

I have not….. literally other than the Ford Early Access portal and the FordPass iOS app, I’ve never used a different app. Only thing slightly unusual might be that my phone ran the iOS 16.2 beta.

Use the alexa app on your phone, access your home alexa device, install the ford pass app in the alexa app and activate the feature, then use your ford pass log in so alexa can access your account.
There you go. You violated the terms of use by giving Amazon access to your account. Just because you can do it doesn’t mean it’s allowed.

lol ford better sue amazon then for allowing the ford app on amazon
No lawsuit required. They just cut off the problem account — yours. Problem solved for Ford but you’re left without account access.

I’m not happy about the situation either. I wish Ford had adm approved API that partners could use to access data as Ford allows it. However, at this point there is no Ford-approved API.

This is super weird. The FordPass Alexa skill is literally from Ford Motor Company, FordPass

Ford wrote this to run on Alexa devices, just like the FordPass app running on iOS doesn’t make Apple the unapproved partner company.

If it’s triggering on Alexa’s official FordPass skill, it is an IBM cloud fraud protection service false positive.

I think the issue is Amazon running the Ford API - not Ford running the Amazon API. This is why it works one direction and not the other.

I'm not familiar with Alexa programming. How do you know the FordPass skill is written and approved by Ford?

It’s not Amazon running the Ford API though. The skill runs on your local Alexa device.

It is the same as your FordPass app on your iPhone or Android phone — that’s not “Google running the Ford API” either.

I think this is ultimately a problem that even though the various application stacks likely have their own protections, rate limits, checks, etc., the SSO solution Ford is using is running it's own rate checks or other security pattern checks, and we are all getting tripped in that system. FordPass has no control (other than making internal requests to their IT staff) over the IBM SSO solution that Ford is using. This setup seems problematic, and the FordPass application stack likely needs to have hooks built into the SSO service so that the FordPass team can self-manage security concerns and improve end user experiences when these lockouts occur.
