I took delivery of my Lariat earlier this week. I have to say I am definitely impressed with the truck so far. This is my first EV so there is of course a learning curve. The one pedal driving took a bit to get used to but now I prefer it over two pedal. The Blue Cruise feature was a bit unsettling to use at first but has worked flawlessly the couple of times I’ve used it. The only frustration so far is that the Pro Charger is on back order so I have to use the portable till it comes in. As far as adds to my truck I have installed a Bedrug and just got my tonneau cover delivered yesterday so that will be going on this weekend.

Congrats on the Lariat @JimB!
Were you looking at any other vehicles before deciding go with the Lightning?
What are your thoughts on the build quality?
I had previously considered a Tesla (the cars not the truck). I’m glad I waited for the Lightning. I have not had it very long but the quality appears to be very good. No unusual gaps or misfit finish pieces. My only frustration so far is that the Ford Pro chargers (80 amp) are on back order so I have to use the Ford portable (30 amp) to charge which takes much longer. The truck is super quite even on the highway.

I have a 2018 Model 3 and I’ll never got back to ICE. I have 120,000 miles on it and have purchased 2 sets of tires, 2 set of windshield wipers and windshield washing fluid….cant wait to take delivery of my Lightning and our household will be all electric. The solar panels we put up in October will power both.

Hmmm….assumptions are not always correct. Was really looking to learn about features and benefits of why you made your selection.
Hopefully I can answer your question a bit better. I previously had a F350 with a 7.3 gas engine. I had purchased it to pull a fifth wheel that I bought. The camper now stays full time at the campground so I do not need the F350 to pull it anymore. My other car is a Mazda Miata which while is a blast to drive but sucks in the snow (I live in the Hudson Valley of NY). I often need to visit New York City and the F350 will not fit in any of the parking garages that I use so I was looking to downsize to an F150. Several of my friends own electric cars and they love them (Tesla’s). I wanted a pickup for the same reasons a lot of folks do - convenience and ability to haul stuff when you need to. Being able to take it to the city is also important, especially in the winter. I liked what I read about the Lightning early on and got on the list to order one fairly early. I did not decide to actually go through with the purchase until I test drove it, and worked the deal out for trading in my F350. The area I live in has plenty of charging stations, as does the parking garage I use in the city, so I am not overly concerned about the range. Having driven it for a week now I can tell you that I am very happy with my purchase. The ride is exceptional, the pick up is incredible, the utility of it is even better than a standard F150 (the frunk is very useful). The One Pedal driving took a bit to to get used to but now I absolutely love it. The fit and finish is on par with some “luxury“ cars I have owned. The quite driving experience is very nice and will spoil you quickly. The Blue Cruise feature is a bit un-nerving till you get used to it. The sound system (I have a Lariat edition with the B&O) is very nice. The heated and cooled seats are very comfortable. Having the ability to make the climate control operate in a mode that is driver only will help extend the range. I have the temperature set to about 75 deg in the cab and precool the truck while it is plugged in there by not using the battery to do it. I then set the seat to the lowest cooling setting and I have found this to be very comfortable (normally I would set the temp in the cab for 69-70 degrees to achieve the same comfort). I definitely do not miss spending over a $100 a week on gas. While I have not had it long, I definitely think I am going to enjoy owning this truck. Let me know if I can answer any other questions or be of any other assistance.

Why did you choose the bed rug vs a spray in liner? It looks great, but I’d like to know the features and benefits.
I ordered the same color and it’s darker than I thought it would be.
I had a Bedrug in my F350 and loved it. One of the things I really like about it is you can kneel in the truck without killing your knees. It is easy to clean (broom or vacuum works great). If you get the full version it covers that gap between the bed and the tailgate eliminating that annoying collection of dirt which always seems to find its way in there. The fit is perfect. They really do a good job with that. Installing it takes a little over an hour depending on what options are in your truck bed. Oh and it was cheaper than the spray in liner.

I grew up in the Hudson Valley and travel there at least once a month. I’ve been driving a Tesla Modle 3 for almost 4 years, couldn’t wait to see the Cybertruk and soon as I did, I knew I would NOT be getting one. Can’t wait to get my Lariat ER, Max tow package to use for work and to haul our travel trailer. Thanks for the info about the rug. did the dealer install it?

Two sets of tires in 120,000 miles on a Tesla... that is way good! I am on my 3rd set of tires on our Y at only 73,000... but then, my wife like the power... and uses it lol.
