This just being a warning, I wonder how many dealers will just go ahead and sell these and for a high markup.
If they do not get at least 25K in markup they would be losing out on dollars. I don't think replacements are going to be readily available for at least the remainder of 2022.

Wasn't sure where to post this but I went over to my dealer today and ended up spending about an hour talking with my sales guy. Nice guy, I like him. Very honest and open. Anyway, he was already talking to another reservation holder (but hasn't gotten the order placed - they didn't know off the top of their head the day they reserved). The other customer was weighing waiting for the Lightning or getting a powerboost. Retired guy that is married and camps. So we chatted for a bit and the sales guy mentioned that they were suppose to have had their mannequin model a week ago.

He was enthusiastic to hear about my build date and joked that they may have their model by the time mine starts getting built. A lot of talk about just the delays of everything. But I'm happy to hear that my dealer should be getting some for me to stick my head around in soon.

If only they could be that forceful about ADM (especially post-order confirmation ADM)....
Talked to my dealer on Friday, Crater Lake Ford in Medford Oregon. They are a high volume truck dealer, and seemed convinced that selling over MSRP would affect future allocations, which seemed to scare them. They assured us all orders would be straight MSRP, and hinted they expected to be rewarded by Ford for this.

Henry Curtis (Hansel) Ford in Petaluma will not be rewarded for good behavior. 7k over asking. I will pay it because I was moved to the front of the line. I wouldn’t put it past them to have prioritize people at the back of the line so they would be willing to pay the ADM. Salesman said they had an allocation of 21 but were only getting 13. Maybe Ford is already punishing them? Dealerships are tiresome.
I am still very excited to get an electric truck.

So you too don’t see it as “good behavior”? Ironic.

Possibly 8 very wise customers waited until they were issued the ordering opportunity and immediately transferred to a NO ADM dealer, essentially transferring those allocations from them to the good guy dealer.

Fortunately once you get an EV you won’t need to talk to cynical service managers anymore. I am hoping Ford gets us our trucks asap because they seem to realize how important this vehicle is.
Why do you think that? They aren't all like that. I like my service person and they have been trained on them. You will need to take that vehicle in occasionally. Just did the 10k mile service on the Mach E.

Now I had the opposite experience with my sales guy. He was positive about me getting my Lightning even though he kept it straight about the amount of delays a lot of their vehicles have right now. But from everything I've heard Ford made sure they had the needed supplies for the Lightning because they didn't want those particular to falter. The sales guy was especially on point about commercial needing heavy duty vehicles that are on back order. The Lightning is going to commercial as well and they do not want to screw that up.

Maybe. I wasn’t quite sure how that all worked when I ordered. None of the Ford dealers that I know of in the Northbay are trustworthy enough that to believe they won’t add an ADM. The closest one I found was about an hour and half away. I was going to transfer my order to them but then the dealer called and here we are.
As others have said, if dealers can figure out a way to get around the 25K and sell the cars I’m sure they will.
The fact that we’re even having this discussion or there are threads about this tells you something about the dealership model. Wouldn’t it be nice if you didn’t have to spend a ton of time researching who will mark up the car and who won’t?

What did they do at 10,000 miles? Washer fluid and coolant? New wipers? Tesla used to recommend an annual service. But they finally gave up on it. It basically consisted of the things I mentioned above.
Tire rotation, break fluid check. I still have a gas powered car and in the last 3 years the only things I've ever taken it in for are for the wheels/tires/suspension. I can change my own oil.

Hopefully more dealers will see it that way.
