Hello all,

I’m based in NJ and my dealer emailed me this. I’m not in the market for the Lariat model as I wanted the Pro but just wondering if anyone else got something similar. Considering that the federal EV credit will be used up by Ford at the end of the year I am tempted but the Lariat is significantly above the price range I wanted to spend.

I have important Lightning news!

Ford just released new Lightning Ordering information to us! I know you have been waiting to recieve an email from Ford stating you are able to order your Lightning but they now have opened up the ordering bank to all reservation holders!

At this time the ONLY Lightning you are able to order for a 2022 model year is the Lightning Lariat with either the 510A package which is the standard range battery or the 511A package which is the extended range battery.

If you are interested in proceeding forward with your reservation and ordering a Lariat please contact me ASAP as the deadline to submit your order is Friday June 10th!

Highly suspect since literally every other order opportunity has come direct from Ford. Sounds more like the dealer has a lariat that someone backed out of and is looking to sell it. Which is fine but I’d expect this offer won’t be at MSRP and they’d probably then ask the buyer to keep their reservation so that they can get another truck in inventory and do it all over again. #pessimist.

I’m also in NJ with an extended reservation waiting for an MY23 Pro version and don’t have this option available so the recent reply post make sense

I’m not saying don’t do it. Just go in armed. There is almost zero chance that it’s actually an opportunity to convert your reservation to an order for a MY22 truck. It’s likely either the mannequin (available in 6 months after who knows what) or another customer’s order who backed out. If you can get a good price and you wanted a Lariat go for it. But my guess is you’ll still have your reservation number and the dealership is hoping it can use that future truck to make money later. Ask about price and as soon as they say above MSRP run away unless you’re willing to pay to move forward from when you’d actually get your shot to order. Especially if the dealer has been MSRP for orders from reservations.

It could also be dealer prioritization orders in the pipeline that priority customers decided not to accept.

I can confirm that this is legit. Because of this post and a similar one from Massachusetts, I stopped in at a dealer today and learned that they had received this same email from Ford, in their case giving them two additional allocations - one for the standard range, one for ER. Both Lariats. The dealership manager was in the process of calling and emailing folks to find two people to take these allocations. By happy serendipity, we were able to help each other out: I was able to call Ford to move my reservation to this dealership, and the dealer was able to allocate the Lariat ER to me. The dealer has until Friday to allocate both trucks. The next step will be me receiving an email from Ford inviting me to order, which should happen in mid-June (i.e. next week-ish, once the Friday deadline has passed). I am in California, this dealer does not charge ADM; I am now checking my email feverishly.

One last note: the dealer told me that a lot of the customers he would like to call to offer this opportunity to have "do not call or email" on their accounts. I know I thought about doing that back when I first reserved, because the dealer I chose when I made the reservation sent me a ton of spammy emails right after I reserved. So if you want to be alerted when opportunities like this come along, be sure you don't have your reservation marked with "do not call or email!" And, if you are eager to order and want to get in on what appears to be Wave 7, call your dealership now to see if they have a last-minute allocation. And if they don't (my original dealer didn't) keep calling dealerships until you find one that does, and time it carefully so that you know there's still an allocation available when you move your reservation!
