I would like to create this thread for Lightning owners to discuss their experiences at DC fast chargers while owning their truck. I’m seeing a lot of videos where Electrify America chargers are very unreliable and frustrating to get charging sessions started or maintain fast charging rates. These videos are on multiple YouTube channels not just one. I watch a lot of Out of Spec videos but I’ve seen these problems on other channels too just not many with Ford F-150 Lightning trucks being fast charged.

I’ve only had two fast charging sessions so far in my truck and they were both at relatively high states of charge at the same Electrify America station in about 100 degree temps. I started each session between 50-65% and charged to just over 80%. I used a 350 kw charger on one session and a 150 kw charger on another but both session went faster than even what FORD’s curve would have predicted.

Just curious how many issues people are seeing so far in the first couple months of the trucks being in customers hands.

I’ve had my Mustang Mach E since February 2021. We found very few inoperative chargers on our first trip from MD to FL and back in Feb-Mar 2021. By January 2022 the number of inoperative chargers increased and so has demand on the chargers. Certain key stations were especially problematic as their high demand due to location led to frequent breakdowns. EA is definitely going to have to improve their reliability game. Fortunately some of the other companies like EV-Go and ChargePoint have received infusions of money that is resulting in new stations that are taking up some slack.
