So because of the chip shortage to reduce the possibility that Ford cannot complete the production of their Lightning they reduced some key features that I would presume need special chips to function. features like in-bed scale, messaging seats, etc.
So my question is - later when the chips are available it would be awesome to be able to pay whatever amount was subtracted to add the chip in to get the feature. Ie, install some kind of computer chip that activates the messaging seats. But if they are not installing more than just the chips (like the actual massagers in the seats) than its probably a no-go.
This is probably a question for ford and not customers but if anybody has seen anything like this from other manufacturers or knows of comments from Ford it would be great to know. The two features I call out above are huge.
