Took my F150 Lightning Lariat Extended Range on a couple longer trips since I got it on 6/8. I've noticed on 3 occasions so far (different charging stations) that the charging rate maxed at around 77 kW when the published rate on the charger and on the FordPass app / Chargepoint / Shell Recharge app is all at 149 kW. In all instances I was the only one that was at the charging station and charged from approximately 15 to 75 or 80%. I observed multiple times throughout the charge and the hourly average was right about 74 kW. I've gone to an Electrify America charging station twice now with the 350kW chargers and get the max truck charging rate capped at 150kW - which is what I would have expected. Anyone else run into a similar issue? Is it only specific to certain chargers? I set up a service inspection with my dealer in a couple weeks but just wanted to check to see here first if I'm missing something.

Thanks all!

I had the same problem today at Electrify America. It was labeled 350kw but maxed at 34kw. I was wondering if I had an incorrect setting.

It is probably the charging station not the truck. Were you sharing the station with another vehicle?
I went back to the same location, tried a different charger and had much better results. Thanks.

This is one of the reasons why the truck should display the charge rate. Yes, the charge station displays the charge rate, but if it is cold or raining you should not need to get out to verify that the charge station to hat you are plugged into is delivering the proper charge rate. If station 1 is delivering 50kw and station 2 is delivering 160, I know which one I want to be plugged into, however without that knowledge you could be sitting there for a longer time than is necessary. The information is available (car scanner app plus obd2 Bluetooth adapter) so why can't Ford put that info on the screen.

I have the same issue with the Electrify America chargers I use. I live in the hot desert and have noticed a message on the screen that power is reduced to the charging stations during the hot part of the day. At those times the charge rate is only 34kw. If I go early in the morning the charge rate is closer to 150kw. It’s kind of frustrating when you try to charge on your hour lunch break and only get 30 miles of range. I figure I will just deal with it until my pro charger is installed next week. I’m just worried for the first time I take it on a road trip. Going to have to plan for longer stops or leave really early in the morning.

Wouldn't it be nice if the Electrify America app would display the same (or better) screen as the charger inside the vehicle using CarPlay or AA?

Yeah that would be great! The worst part about charging is the time I have to stand there in the hot 110+ degree weather waiting for the charging station to think about the next screen it needs to load just so I can touch the start charging button. Hoping things will get way better in the future.

Greenlots/Shell Recharge have been rather unreliable in some parts of the country. They also are often much slower than advertised on the app. If you go to that station again, please photograph the detailed data on the side of the charger to see who makes it and what is its charging capacity.

Same issue here. Lariat ER and I occasionally hook up to 150 or 350KW capable chargers and get 35KW. I move to another recharger and get 150-170. Weird thing is I’ve seen people come behind me and get full rate on the charger that failed me. Overall I’m still shocked by the failure rate of Electrify America chargers. I rarely pull into a station where they all work. Typically 1-3 out of 4 are INOP. Totally unacceptable

I've had this happen but was able to resolve the issue by disconnecting and reconnecting to the same charger.

Annoyingly, it appeared to be working fine at 162kW only to degrade to 35kW after 5 mins. Reconnecting bumped it back to 110kW or so.

It seems like it's not necessarily that the charger is bad but that something triggers a slower charging rate and needs to be reset.

I set up an account with the required deposit and have never seen a Greenlots that worked. No Shell Recharge rebranding here yet; they're usually low, boxy things installed at municipal lots and libraries. There's a library in an old bank branch that has a couple installed in the old drive-thru banking lanes. Great idea, but in total disrepair.

Similar variability here - plugged into a 350 station was only getting 29, tried the second stall same result. I was a little low started charge at 14% but there was no change when I reached 20%.
I wish it was easier to know if it is the source or the truck which is setting the realized rate of charge
