One more question about this, if I get the Ford charger, will it work on Rivian? I’m expecting one of those in 2024.
Which Ford charger? The bi-directional 80 amp unit? Probably, but it has been very problematic.

Any other of the Ford charger should work fine, but I would recommend against Ford branded chargers in general unless you need the bidirectional functionality. They have a long history of quality problems, and are expensive.

not sure how often I’d need the bidirectional feature but I’m sure my wife would bring it up the one time every five years the power goes out here.

Totally agree with your rant. I had all the same problems connecting to wifi and, as you say, why 2 apps?? I finally gave up on the CSP app completely and I just plug the truck in to the charger and use the controls from the FordPass App or the truck itself. I have it set to start charging at midnight and charge to 90%. Honestly, every morning I charge I expect to see that it's failed, but it has so far worked great. N = 3 though, so limited experience.

FYI - had a new 100 amp breaker installed and have the charger running at 80 amps in a covered car port like area.
How did you get it to charge without the app? I have a solid blue light on the CSP and it won’t connect to my Wi-Fi. I tried connecting to the truck. It shows connected but it doesn’t add any range.

Don't need the app for it to charge. Plug it into the truck, should start charging away. If you open and close truck door, screen should show you that it is charging, especially if light is blue.

thank you. It’s charging.
What’s the purpose of the app? The ford rep blamed my Wi-Fi but I was able to connect my truck with them on the phone. She said it’s a new product and challenges are to be expected. Amazing.

You can track kWh, etc, but doesn't impact function. Charge settings are controlled by truck anyway.

From what I read in this thread, installing the Ford wall charger when it arrives is a PITA for many of you. I happen to have a spare Tesla Gen 2 high powered wall charger in its box. It can do 80 amps on a 100 amp circuit and I know how to hook it up.

With my new Larriat, what would the Ford charger do for example in communication with my iPhone, that my Tesla charger can only do with my Tesla, like control the charger, turn it on or off, set time for it to start or time for it to reach my set charge limit, and see how far along it is.

you can do that from the truck. Set max charge, time to charge, etc. you can stop charging from the ford pass app.

you only need a ford 80amp charger if you’re going to do the intelligent back up power.

I use a changepoint charger because it is simpler, smaller and the app is much more intuitive, also tracks my monthly charging costs which I am sure tesla's is better still. I put my ford charger at my shop and changepoint at home. sell it keep the tesla

So after reading all the issues with the CSP app setup Iwas armed with the amo I needed but a but apprehensive the set up would work. I tried for about an hour for a few days after th install with no luck. Still could not find the SSW brodcasting from the CSP.
I gave up and tried again after work, with no luck.
I hesitantly decided to call the number on the front of the CSP manual, and got in touch with Melisa. I told her I tried everything, and had read up on other peoples issues. When I called it was 5:00 on the West coast, so I was not sure if there would be someone there to help me.
Melisa walked me through all the steps, and got me connected in about 35 minutes.
I was so happy with her help, and it was not a nightmare like some of the other posts about this setup.
Ford was solid throughout this, as my first time customer service experience with them.

I got my CSP to connect to my Wi-Fi but can’t get it to connect to the ford pass app. Can you share the steps for this? I keep getting an error saying ChargePoint not found

Sorry, I went through so many different steps to get it done, I can not recall how we got there. I would just give them a call, the number is on front of the Manuel. Ask for Melisa, if you do not get someone competent.

Lost the connection to the Ford Charge Station Pro.
After no luck calling in (30minutes on the phone) I dumped the Ford Pass App Version 4.23.1. and then download the new Version 1.5.0. Went through the setup and “presto” I’m connected again.

Good Luck!

Other Suggestions:
Make sure that the Charge Station Pro Setup App and your Ford Pass app are both open when you begin the setup process..

Be sure you know the identity of your home Wi-Fi network and its password. You will need both of these to link the CPS to your home network.

There are two locations for your CPS Station ID. There is one decal attached to the CPS itself under the white cover. A second decal is attached to the front page of the CPS Installation Guide. Your station ID should begin with the letters "SWA." You will be looking for the SWA number on your phone's list of possible Wi-Fi networks.
Thanks for the advice. I unfortunately ran into an error later in the process after I connected to the SWA network and after I connected to my home network. It says 'one final step', which opens the FordPass app, shows a loading symbol and then errors out with the every helpful 'you've hit a roadblock error, the page you're looking for doesn't exist'. I also just spent an hour with 3 diffrent Ford agents and got nowhere.

they don’t know how to fix it.

I’ve spent hours with them as well.

suddenly everything works on my app today. I can see the usage, change the amps, etc.

I didn’t do anything special to make it work.

I think it’s just a glitchy app. My suggestion is just keep trying every few days. Maybe not ever day because that’ll just keep you frustrated.

So, I just got my charger station pro all set up on an 100 amp line yesterday; charges the truck great.

Of course, I ran into the typical problems connected it to my wifi. Initially, the SWA was broadcasting, but it failed every time I tried to connect it to my wifi. Eventually, I could not even see the SWA broadcasting anymore, so I gave up.

So, it works just fine and you can control the when it charges/target through sync and ford pass. So, why do I even need to set it up? I'm not doing intelligent backup. Does it prove any info that is helpful?
