Property Window Building Wood Interior design

My electricians mounted my 80A Charge Station Pro (CSP) on the wall of my garage yesterday (2 August 2022) and completed the wiring that they started in March 2022.

When the circuit breaker was activated (on the other side of the garage), the CSP was ready to go to work. Blue LEDs were clearly visible on the face of the charger.

I am very pleased with the results.

But is it hooked up to wifi yet?
Yes, the charger is hooked up to Wi-Fi.

It was a struggle, but I was finally able to complete the installation setup using the Charge Station Pro (CSP) Setup app and the Ford Pass app.

At first, the CSP's Station ID would not appear on my iPhone's list of possible networks. After numerous unsuccessful attempts, I finally called Ford Customer Support (800-392-3673). I was on the phone with Ford for almost two hours (110 minutes, to be precise) and spoke with six different Ford representatives, but to no avail. They had no solutions to offer me.

When I ended the call to Ford, I moved my Lightning from the driveway into the garage next to the CSP. Just for grins, I tried the CSP Setup app one more time -- and it worked. I was able to complete the setup process all the way into Ford Pass.

The only difference was the fact that my Lightning was located near the CSP (about three feet away). The Lightning was not connected to the CSP, but they were in close proximity. The Ford reps obviously had no clue that having the Lightning near the CSP could be helpful.

I have posted this whole miserable story on one of the other Lightning Owner Forums along with suggestions that might help others.

Have you charged your truck for longer than a couple of hours at 80 amp yet? ive been seeing a lot of overheating post.
The same day that the Charge Station Pro (CSP) was installed, I tried it out.

The charger was in operation for 2 hours and 22 minutes. It added 23% to the total charge and approximately 79 miles of range. When I unplugged the charger, the truck was sitting at 83% charge.

I did not notice any overheating.

This was first, and only, use of the CSP to date.

Soooo I got mine installed yesterday, finally (breaker was on back order), and I went into the setup with expectation of issues. Well the first step from connecting to the stations WiFi just timed out (I'm guessing). So I went ahead and plugged it in and tried again. Still nothing so I left to try again later. The truck did say it was charging before I left and now checking back it has been 57 mins and it has added 11%. shrugs

Thanks @Ford Motor Company for making this overly complicated and not?

So, after all this pain and suffering on the Ford Charge Station Pro, has anyone, meaning on planet Earth, gotten it to work correctly at 80 amps?
My 80A charger runs at full strength. It encountered a fault the first time I used it, but I blame that on the ambient temperature in my garage (very hot). Since then, no problems. I have the app set to turn the charger on at midnight and run until the battery reaches 80% charge. So far, so good.

Is this a problem? (see explanation and photos below)

My CSP was installed yesterday and it works great and looks great. It's a 60 amp breaker with 48 (#5) setting. I have charged it twice and it feels sturdy and fits the wall.

The electrician didn't use the base (I think it is called the base or mounting bracket). I am not sure he even saw it.

Should I have him come back out to fix it or is this okay?

I mounted mine and had already done my own electrical. I'd have him use the base as this is the cover for the hardwiring on the charger side via a 2 gang box.

Meaning the black base covers the wiring coming out of your 240v outlet box.

There are conduit entry points but the base is required for proper install (and I'm sure to meet code in most places).

Here's to cross members between the studs to stabilize this beast! (just rolling 32A on a 40A breaker)

Yes, that back panel is needed both to seal the electronics and for mounting stability. Mine is mounted to the stud with two big lag bolts. Those are heavy cables.

To add, I really needed to add the cross members between studs to make it feel solid. A lot of void space, however. Probably could have been more compact even with the extra electronics for reverse DC current.
