My Blue Antimatter Pro is supposed to come in before the 31st..........If I take delivery before the 31st do I qualify for the current $7500 Federal Tax credit? I believe it depends on how many EV's Ford has sold, I think.
Does anyone know the determining factors??

Oh you have antimatter blue, that doesn’t qualify. Only White and Avalanche do. 😉

Determining factors for 2022 are: final assembly in North America if purchased after 8/16/22 and you must make-it-yours before 1/1/23. No 200,000 EV cap, gone.
also looks like you have a Pro which is under the the $80k threshold so you're good either way.
The income and MSRP caps kick in after 12/31/22. The final amount of the Lightning's tax credit under the new IRA is still pretty much unknown.
  • It could be $7500 until IRS issues final guidance on battery requirements. (Unknown if it will be an extension of the full $7500 pending battery determination), or
  • It could be $3750 for 50% Lightning battery components with US or free trade alliance country sourcing or,
  • It could be (doubtful) $3750 for 40% critical battery mineral sourcing from US/FTA countries or,
  • It could be (doubtful) the full $7500.

IRS says they will release more details about the battery rules extension before 12/31/22.

Apparently rules on battery sourcing are delayed until March 2023, but income and MSRP limits still go into effect 1/1. So, bullet point #1 is applicable until March subject to income and MSRP caps.

My Lariat ER is supposed to show at dealer by 23rd per latest email from Ford. I'm not optimistic, but it better show before end of year or I will likely walk away from the purchase as I'm not paying $88k for a Lariat without a $7,500 subsidy. Likely, just buy a '23 Raptor and trade in my '19 Raptor.

I can't believe
there isn't a lot more chatter about this here. All deliveries til March, under $80k, get full $7500 credit. (Unless you're rich)

this is concise, and helpful, thanks. do you know if there is an income limit that impacts the credit?

I'm in EXACTLY the same boat. About to call the dealer as my truck has been at railyard (less than 30 miles from dealer) since 12/4. Was supposed to come 12/21 but didn't - literally just happened to be driving by dealer yesterday and saw vehicles being delivered but not mine and now they are telling me 12/31. Salesperson says they have no control/influence over when it gets delivered. I'd gladly give someone at the railyard/driver a few hundred bucks to make it happen. SO FRUSTRATING!

I’m sorry. Mine sat in a rail yard for three weeks. The delivery estimate kept bumping forward, I think four times. The week it was finally was delivered my dealer did call and said it was coming.

My dealer said they were willing to start the sale prior to delivery since the VIN was already assigned to me if it didn’t get delivered before 2023. Ask, you never know. Good luck.

I did this when my Lightning was about a week out and I needed to leave on vacation. I wanted to be sure it didn't get sold out from under me.
