I did the same! The only sad part is that the front stake-pockets are covered.

Yeah, I've seen that. I am unsure whether I'm going to do that, it seems more destructive than I've been OK doing lately.

Great suggestion. I went with the angled version. Installed them this morning, then loaded the truck full of kayaks this afternoon.
