Blue Cruise won’t engage

2612 Views 22 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  greatbreweh
Hello y’all 👋🏽

I am wondering if someone can point me in the right direction. I have a lariat ER with the package for hand free blue cruise. However if I’m a on mapped hwy it won’t engage. It only does “hands-on blue cruise” if I take my hands off within 10 secs or so says to put hands on. I drove about 2k miles on mapped hwys and it never once it engaged to hands free mode. I went into the settings and made the sure the appropriate things were on. But I have a feeling I am missing something. Any tips on how to get it going?

The only time I've had it not engage on a mapped portion is when I go over a certain speed limit. I actually want a feature to turn it off :D

mine seems to have to learn for a few min and then changes to total hands free from hands on, or maybe it is not totally reading the road not sure but at some point it takes over as hands free

Mine would not engage hands free mode till I registered my vehicle in the Ford pass app and activated the 3 free years of blue cruise.

Thanks for the responses! Yeah the three years is activated fp and in settings it’s toggled on. I may have to take it to ford, I also have speed sign recognition on so it’s almost always going the speed limit I have never even driven the truck normally above 80.
Here's my $.02. In the 1st 500 miles or so, it would take a bit of "learning" time to activate. Minutes in the beginning. Now it activates immediately.
Has anyone tried to use hands free blue cruise in Nova Scotia I cannot get it to work

This is the most recent map I can find that shows which roads are covered for BlueCruise. This is from April 2021. I looks like there's a couple of areas in Nova Scotia that should work.

I have tried to engage the hands free on the 104 between New Glasgow and Truro, and the 102 between Truro and Halifax without success. I have read the requirements and I am fairly sure I have it set up correctl but no joy. I have only had the vehicle for a week and I want to make sure I am not doing anything wrong before I complain to the Dealer.
You must be registered for Ford BlueCruise under Connected Services in your account on the Ford Pass app (you will have an expiration date). You also must have lane lane centering turned on before engaging BC. If you do these things on the road, then when you hit Set on the steering wheel a BC notice should appear on the screen (even if hands free is not available at that time). If you got the 3.5.2 update over the air you may need to reboot the larger screen also. There are posts on how to do the reboot in the Forum already.
I received the 3.5.2 update the other day and now the hands free works great, it engages almost instantly and remains engaged.

Keep a grip of your steering wheel at all times. When driving through an intersection with a left and a right turning lane and if the center line is a double yellow or, the dotted lines are missing at the entrance of the turning lanes, Blue Cruise tries to turn into one of the turning lanes, usually the left one with the double yellow line! One other opportunity in the Blue Cruise is that a square white County Road sign can be mistaken for a speed sign. I have had this happen twice while passing a County Road 35 sign. Blue Cruise will unexpectedly slow down to 35mph in a 55mph zone! No worries, steep learning curve for all of us!

Haha, I was driving through downtown Rockford, IL and passed an old IL Hwy. 70 sign. BC floored it from 35 and I had to do a quick disengage.

I recently had the truck decide that the speed limit was 85 MPH (in a 55), and it took steps to get me up to speed. Thanks but no thanks! :)
hey I dont have blue cruise anymore seems it is subscription based but it says trial good into 2025 year so where did it go?
