Apple CarPlay does not to reliably connect every time. It works about 75% of the time, but when it won't connect, it won't connect even if I go into the app screen and try and force a connection. Anyone else seeing this issue?
Sometimes mine doesn't connect right away but will connect after a few minutes. Try being patient and seeing if it connects on its own.

I have a 12Pro. What iPhone do you have?
Also, OS version might matter. I was running iOS 15.x until upgrading to 16.0 today. Haven't driven anywhere today.

My Mach E was connecting fine as well but started acting up a bit after a recent PowerUp.

Inconsistent issues as well. It will usually sync but then none of the apps will actually open via the screen - forcing me to use the phone to open music etc. iPhone 11 but had no problems on a previous wireless carplay vehicle. Plugging in via the cord doesn't fix the problem. Probably happens 30% of the time

Have had intermittent disconnects in the last couple days. Upgrading to 15.7 on my iphone Xs now just to keep the phone up to date.

Dammit! It was working. Even after I upgraded to iOS 16 it was fine yesterday morning. Then yesterday morning it wouldn't connect no matter what I did. I even turned off the truck and phone and turned them back on. I may have to delete the phone and reconnect it if the problem doesn't resolve in a couple of days.

Where is Ford here? I want them to chime in here and tell us they are aware of problems and taking feedback. I also would like a method for them to take feedback from us and recommendations on the user interface.

With IPhone 12 PRO MAX on iOS 15.x or lower:
I have had issues on numerous occasions with Airplay failing to connect. Here is what I have found:

1. If Airplay initially connects on its own, you will have no problems while the phone is in Bluetooth range and the truck is still on. HOWEVER, if I am messing with ANYTHING on my phone (answering a call, unlocking the phone, whatever) at the time the truck tries to establish the connection, then I have trouble getting the phone to ever connect. Even going in and attempting to manually make the connection or shutting off/on wifi/Bluetooth did not seem to work.

2. If Airplay connects and you leave the truck running and take your phone away from the truck and out of range for Bluetooth, there will be problems trying to reconnect. Most of the time, turning the truck off, opening the door to kill total power, waiting a minute or so, then turning the truck back on will allow a connection.

On iOS 16 THOUGH (same phone):

I have not have near as much trouble even if an initial connection is not made (in other words, I’m using my phone when the truck turns on and airplay fails to connect), I have been able to go into the phone settings on the truck and click the airplay button and it has connected every time without issue.

So try updating your phones and see if things don’t get better….

Dammit! Operator error. Of course CarPlay wasn't working. I had turned off WiFi. Doh!

Remember that CarPlay requires both Bluetooth and WiFi to be turned on.

Yes but in your control center view (when you swipe down from the top right), the wifi symbol will be grayed out when connecting/connected to CarPlay. Attempting to turn the wifi symbol “on” by touching it so it will turn blue, will create a prompt that mentions CarPlay will be disconnected if Wifi is turned on. Kind of confusing but that’s how I’ve found it to work.

Agreed. You have to have WiFi and Bluetooth turned on before connecting CarPlay.

Yup! Same here… Everyday! Not an issue…. But annoying! Turning the truck off and back on again usually resolves it!

My issue seems to be resolved. Not sure if it was the latest iOS or powerup but I have reliable connection at every start up and even reconnection if I leave and then return to the vehicle while it is still powered on. A few apps are still wonky but that appears to be an app display on carplay issue not specific to the truck

This happened to me today; could not get CarPlay to work from either my or my husband's phone. Turning the truck off and back on did not help. Two things that might have had something to do with it; we had just gotten the FCSP installed and I had connected and integrated it into FordPass on my phone (but not my husband's yet), and also it was quite hot inside the cab when we got into the truck to run an errand. We've noticed that when it's hot inside, sometimes the heated steering wheel and seats will come on automatically when we turn on the truck. Not what you want in an already-hot car! And that's what happened today. Makes me a wee bit concerned about how all those computers are going to hold up under all the extremes they will experience and with all the competing demands they need to handle!

Mine had been fairly reliably and now with IOS 16.0.3 on a 14 Pro max it has been having issues the last couple days. I have rebooted the phone, turned wifi and bluethooth on and off ect, it just won't connect sometimes. Funny thing is the phone will connect via bluetooth just no carplay, even if I plug the phone into the truck.
