For reference I have a Lariat ER

When I picked her up earlier this month 100% was 320 miles exactly. Just yesterday when I am plugged from the 40 amp wall unit we are using as a temporary solution; it’s for the double oven in the kitchen, I had 342 miles until empty.

This is my first EV so I’m not sure if this is typical? If so, does that mean that the ER battery range is closer to 360 or 370 miles as some of us hypothesized? I know a lot of us wondered if Ford was smartly under promising and over delivering and I’m wondering if this is a sign of that.

I will say the first 4-5 miles disappeared super quick (Like before I was a mile from home and that’s without the air conditioner running) but the rest of the miles were fairly accurate and my mileage reduced at its typical rate for my driving style.

The unbreakable Laws of Physics will probably rule against your more optimistic theories. The range showing is: 342mi/131kWh battery = 2.61 kW per mile. Does that reflect your real-world experience driving her since she arrived? In-town driving may make that an accurate prediction.

Hi @[email protected], yes this is pretty common. Most (all?) EVs base their real-world range on a number of factors, but the one you have most control of is your personal driving style.

If you floor it and treat like a hot rod, over time the system will adjust your 100% range downward because you’re typically using more KWh to drive per mile.

However, if you use gentle acceleration, relatively lower speeds, and especially one-pedal driving with regen, you will see your estimated range go up over time.

Enjoy!

Let the games begin! First those pleased with their batteries. Later in the year when it gets cold, new folks will ask if they got the wrong battery. These are normal for first-time EV buyers. Rule #1: Don't trust the Guess-o-Meter!

Thanks for the reminder. I read it before I had taken delivery and I didn’t remember you mentioning what I had noticed, but I do remember you forewarning us that cold weather will wreck havoc on the battery. I’ve already seen hot weather do the same so I’m prepping myself through the inevitable 4 to 5 months of near freezing temperatures that lie ahead.
