Just curious if this is just me or others notice..not a big deal either way.

i have the rain sense/auto wipers enabled, and I also have the courtesy wipe enabled which is meant to do one last pass after wiper fluid is used.

Anyway, I’ve noticed that about 50-60% of the time, when I start my lightning, in the morning for example when parked in garage, the wiper will activate for one pass. Same will happen in the parking garage at work, or in a parking lot. It won’t be misting or raining or anything. I at first thought maybe dust is triggering the sensor, but would have to be a very sensitive sensor and this would be happening too much for that. Wondering if maybe I deactivate the courtesy wipe if it would help? Just sorta random and annoying.

There's a solution for this: turn off automatic wipers until you need them.

Many cars with rain, sensing wipers, will do a courtesy wipe when it first starts up. The Ford settings I think in the vehicle section has a wiper option and under that is a setting that should control this. At least my truck does. The only problem is my rain sensing wipers are completely broken so I don’t get it either the initial wipe or the automatic wipers. Apparently this is waiting for a software update to fix this. I’m questioning the accuracy of this.

Well, it’s non optimal; but windshield motors are designed to sometimes be frozen down. They are forgiving that way.

Think about this… It’s no different than if you leave your physical windshield wiper button in any of the ON positions and the snow builds up and you start your car remotely or in person without turning off the wiper button first. Right?
