I ran across this on the Ford FAQ page for orders/reservations:

Will dealers have an F-150 Lighting on their lot so I can test drive one prior to ordering?
Starting in Spring 2022, all Electric Vehicle (EV)-Certified dealers will be receiving one 2022 MY demo unit that they will be able to use to give customers a hands-on experience with the truck and the ability to test drive.

Does anyone or any dealer know any more info on when this could be?

This was again confirmed in my discussion with Ford's auto show folks yesterday at the Washington, DC Auto Show

When you combine this with information on production and delivery I have from yesterday's discussion (Summer delivery start for customer orders) and another source I have within Ford hoping for a production start around March with OKTB (OK to Buy) in June. That would mean pre-production units start coming around to dealerships and events starting around April or May.

However, FCTP (Ford Courtesy Transportation Program) vehicles, commonly known as dealer demos or mannequins, are normally available for sale after a certain period at the dealership (usually 4-6 months). Since these are units that will go up for sale, they generally are not shipped until after OKTB is issued. That would indicate the arrival of dealer demos in the summer.

So, not surprisingly, "spring" = summer ;)

Thanks for the update!

One other bit of timing information from https://www.ford.com/support/how-to...-reservation-closure-and-order-information/#5:

"How long do I have to place an order during my wave?
Reservation holders being invited in the initial waves have until March 31, 2022, to submit an order. Configuration availability will adjust as orders come in. We recommend that you submit your order as soon as possible once invited to have the best opportunity to order your preferred configuration."

From this, I'm guessing scheduling of final orders will be in April. Since dealers have already been issued their FCTP assignments (trim/color/options), these will probably be the earliest scheduled. Last I've heard, FDNB (Fleet Distribution News Bulletin) still shows no date for scheduling, so the earliest scheduling is unlikely to be before February.

That's exciting!

Rather than being actual dealer demos, that would have been a pre-production prototype. Those are used for demonstrations, visits like yours, and testing. They cannot be sold and most are scrapped after a year or less.
