I was invited into the dealership (Formula Ford in Pickering, Canada) back in January (2022) to convert my reservation to an order for an Atlas Blue Metallic Lariat 511a. I signed the order form and later came back with a $5k deposit. I knew then I would be waiting a while and am still totally fine with it. I typically go in about once a month and ask if there are any updates. On my most recent visit, the sales manager came in to say it was unlikely I would get a 2022MY because of allocations, Covid, supply chain issues, and yadda yadda. Ok, I can live with that, it's the common narrative these days for everything. The problem I have is he told me I should prepare for the 2023MY price increase and not to worry, they were going to put me on the reservation list. I reached out to Ford Canada Customer Relations Centre to ask if they were seriously going to put 2022 order holders back on the reservation list. The email I received made it like I was asking for a special privilege to be moved up the list when all I want is to not be moved to the bottom of the stack. This whole process has been infuriating, the dealership is so sketchy, I'm on my 3rd salesperson since I placed the order so I don't have any type of trust or relationship built. Nobody has ever called or emailed to say my order is actually processing, I have to physically go in, and even then all I get to see is the back side of a computer monitor. I guess my question is: has anyone else been told they are being bumped to 2023, is Ford honouring your 2022 pricing? Are you getting moved from "order" back to "reservation" status?
The 2022 truck was going to cost me $115k CAD after tax, they could treat me better, I feel like a chump.

Did you ever start an account at the Ford Motor Co. website? If you did, you should have received numerous emails from them, including the one inviting you to order....and it's very easy to check your order status, including the order number online.....no need to make trip after trip to the dealer's.
The people at most dealerships seem to have very little knowledge of the whole process, and should have more training.

If you have an actual order that was placed in January, you won't be paying any price increase....it will be MY22 pricing.

Officially called the Ford F-150 Lightning Customer Satisfaction Private Offer, this new program has been launched to protect 2022 reservation and order holders against 2023 price increases when they convert their orders. Any unscheduled 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning retail customer order that gets converted to a 2023 order is eligible for the offer, as well as any 2022 reservation holders who chose the “Extend My Reservation” option for an unavailable configuration. These customers must complete their order conversion by September 30th, 2022 to qualify for the offer, however.

Thanks for the info about the Private Offer, I looked it up. Hopefully it applies to Canada aswell, its not clear. As far as the online portal, until the recent website maintenance it was showing my order, now it shows nothing, its always been kindof glitchy. There wasn't much to see because I made the order In-store all it said was "In-store order, contact dealer". I didn't have the progress bar that I have seen many people post. I received one email when I place my reservation and nothing since. It just seems weird from such a massive company that the communication system would be so Micky Mouse.

Hopefully you still have that email, or other access to your reservation/order number. With that number in hand, I'd be on the phone with Ford's help line, to get this straightened out. I wish you luck, this has been a frustrating process for a lot of people.

your reservation/order number

Just to be clear, you went into the dealer sometime after January 6, 2022 and placed a specific order, which they accepted, along with a substantial deposit. The online portal then showed exactly the specific order that you placed, and the order the dealer accepted, along with your deposit and final MSRP, etc. Is that correct?

Sometimes the terms 'reservations' and 'orders' get confusing. Rarely, people find out that the dealer didn't properly accept the order, or other problems. The other thing that could delay a Wave 1 order this long was trim specs, but it sounds like at CAD $115,000 that you probably ordered a trim that they produced the most.

The best advice is above, call Ford's Lightning group, you may have to ask for them: (800) 334-4375

Yeah, it was definitely an order.

Fyi: From the Customer Care Center as a response to my email.

Good Morning Adam,

I would first like to apologize for misinterpreting your original email. I’m not sure how or what happened, but it looks like I may have mixed up your email with another customer’s concern. Again, my most sincere apologies.

I would also like to apologize for the delay in your vehicle ordering process. I know how frustrating it can be when you are spending a large amount of money and not receiving the best communication from your salesman from the dealership.

The Ford Lightning is a very popular vehicle and is in high demand. You have taken all the proper steps in the reservation and ordering process. The 2022 Models that were ordered from Formula Ford came in on a first come, first serve basis and due to the high demand, they unfortunately didn’t receive all of the orders, yours being one of them along with other fellow customers.

To answer your questions specifically, Ford of Canada does not transition prices from the previous year to the next. So, if the MSRP is higher for the 2023 models then unfortunately you would need to pay for the increase, unless the dealership is willing to offer you a discount. We are in no way wanting you to feel that you are being penalized for the allocation system.

Ford of Canada is not downgrading you by any means. However, since you were on the previous 2022 list, you should be one of the first in line for the 2023 orders. Keep in mind that any vehicle that is ordered with more features and inclusions could take longer to produce then a vehicle with less bells and whistles.

We recommend that you continue to work with your dealership and remember you have the option of contacting other Ford dealers in your area to shop around. I hope this answered your questions and please should you feel that you have more questions or concerns, do not hesitate to call us at (800) 565-3673. We appreciate you being a new Ford customer and wish you all the best

What a big turn off. I was ready to for my 2022 to be fulfilled but now that they're doing this bait and switch, I'll hold off. With more competition and additional options, an F-150 doesn't have to be the only option.

Unlike Ford US, Ford Canada is not giving any price protection on its 2022 orders that are filled with 2023’s. My XLT was going to cost an additional $15k so I bailed and took back my down payment.

I am pretty sure I am bailing too. Unless there is some consumer protection in Ontario that will force Ford Canada to honor my contract I am discussed with ford for this bait and switch they are pulling. I would be interested in seeing how many people are actually dropping off because if this.
I have only ever owned Ford products. I guess it is time for me to branch out and try new brands. @Ford Motor Company

This truck was bringing in so many 'new to ford' customers. Now it is repelling existing customers

Possibly good news.

My Ford dealer just contacted me apparently Ford is now honoring Canadian 2022 Lightning pre order prices on orders that have transitioned to 2023.

I have not seen the details yet, I will post when I have more information.
