12/5/22 Build Week

Well, after reserving 5/20/21 and ordering 9/7/22, I finally have a window sticker! Happy Thanksgiving to me!

I am scheduled blend on 12/11/22, which I thought was interesting since that is a Sunday. I also am scheduled for convoy, so hope that speeds up delivery. (Dearborn to Sioux Falls, SD)

Other 12/5 build week folks, post your updates here. Finally getting real, and hopeful to have it by January.

This is killing me at this point. Initially estimated delivery was 1/6 to 1/9. That was pushed to 1/9 to 1/12. Now it pushed again to 1/10 to 1/16. I know it made it to the twin cities; just needs to get a a darn truck and get here!

Any suggestions to lower my anxiety are appreciated.
I can only commiserate. I had a delivery window of 1/3-1/9. It arrived at rail yard yesterday (about an hour from me) and today a truck came from yard to my dealer but my truck was not part of it. Now it says 1/21-1/27.

Still no truck; this is killing me!

I thought for sure that by leaving town during your delivery window that it would arrive the day you left.
So, I'm still waiting! Delivery is still listed as 1/16/23 at the latest (after 2 date pushes I mentioned earlier). I'd think they would push it again already if they were going to do that.

Ford thinks it was supposed to be put on a truck on 1/10/23 from Cottage Grove, MN. Just exactly where that truck is in relation to Sioux Falls, SD is anyone's guess. This is killing me! I've been waiting since 5/20/21.

Hey, real life is like movies, right? Who can hack some of the sky satellites over Minnesota; find my truck!
My end date is also now shifted to 1/16 as latest. Was extremely frustrating that yesterday a Bronco made it to the rail yard and was immediately put on a truck to be delivered today. My lightning and the 10 other Ford's sitting in that lot that are destined for my dealer were not touched. The dealer promises they have no control over priority but I am hesitant to trust that.

As for the satellites, I think the cost to divert one would be more than both our trucks combined!

It arrived!!!! I had been trolling the dealership looking for my truck nightly and it finally hit today! I can't get it into early next week as all those prep folks are done for the week, but at least I finally have a light at the end on the tunnel!

Looks like they even tried to hide it under the snow!

Yeah, or was just off the transport truck and not even checked in. Minnesota got a bunch of snow when they were trucking it....
Well finally got her home! Handled pretty well on the snow and ice. Sadly, ford pass refused to connect, suspect the modem issue. Dealer will fix on Wednesday. I'm not messing with it. When you pay 90K, that stuff needs to work.

With that said, very excited and had a lot of fun plowing through snow!

Tell them to remove and reconnect power from the 12 volt battery. Save time instead of them messing with the settings which is a waste of time.

Congrats!!

I thought about just doing it myself, and after reading what RIP said, I'd rather have them brick the computer if they mess it up. LOL
Okay, the continuation of my delivery journey.....

Yesterday, the dealer contacted me an said they will send a mobile tech to fix my connectivity issues on Wednesday. I responded by saying I just paid $90 for a truck, I want it to work, and could they come today; they said yes.

So the tech came to my work, where I'm parked in a large open air parking lot. He was great; I gave him my phone and my key fob and he fixed it while I was in work. He said the gateway module was the issue which, lol, kept the model from working. Any guesses how he fixed it? You guessed it, he disconnected the 12 volt battery and rebooted the system. I had to admit this was fantastic service from my dealer. I can't say enough about Sioux Falls Ford. They have always been a no nonsense, no negotiation dealer, and they delivered on every level and sold to all at MSRP. (One note, RIP had pointed out how doing this yourself could, worst case, brick the computer; I just don't think it is worth that risk when under warranty.)

Now I have Ford Pass activated......oh wow. I read all these threads and didn't really "get it." So far, the app has work flawlessly for me to set departure times and I even paid for a DC fast charge at a chargepoint last night since it appeared to be same price if I paid chargepoint directly. (Any advantages to using that over chargepoint app? I do know the ins and outs of the EA issues...ie only use for the free charging, then get an EA plan and pay with them.)

I drove about 60 miles last night down to Vermillion, SD to see my daughter at the University of South Dakota. I think my life changed on Intersate-29 when I engaged Blue Cruise. I felt like I was in a science fiction movie. That was absolutely nuts. I was driving at 80 mph with no hands for 50 miles; good grief!

On the way down, I had about a 9 mph NW wind at my back and it was about 29F. Since it was at my back and I had about 81% SOC, I was like WTH, lets go 80 mph (speed limit in SD). I got 1.4 mi/kwh. I was happy with that.

We had a great time with my daughter and boyfriend; I took them out to dinner. I then let my daughter drive back to her apartment. She loved it! Her boyfriend when back to his home then, and I wanted to try out DC fast charging since they have a good 62.5 kW brand new charger in Vermillion. I was going to just hang out as it charged, but my daughter drove her car so we could head back to her place while it charged to watch some hockey on TV. I was then able to watch it charge on my Ford Pass app.

Charger fired up with no problems through Ford network, and said it would take an hour to get to 90%......I knew I only wanted to go to 80%. While at her apartment, when it hit 75%, we headed back to get the truck.

I added 30% SOC in 45 min. It was about 20F at this point. It was just over 44 kwh added. Only cost me $6.81.

I headed home back into that same wind, but now down to 20F. I went 70mph to see if this made a difference. I only got 1.4 mi/kwh again. I suspect must have been combination of wind and little bit colder. I admit i was a little disappointed with that; have to get chargers built I guess as I would never drive slower than that.

All in all, fantastic trip, feeling like I was in a science fiction movie. I never fully grasped just how but a jump in tech these things are. What a great advance; now, let's get those darn chargers built.

Now, this is interesting.....For my trip down, my trip meter (I had reset it) said I got 1.4 mi/kwh when I got there. Ford pass app says I got 1.9 mi/kwh. ????

On the way back, my trip meter (another reset) said 1.4mi/kwh; Ford pass says 1.5 mi/kwh.

So which is right?

Delayed until February. I canceled. The prices are dropping rapidly and MSRP is even starting to be a challenge as dealers are getting cancelations and inventory. I have owned a Tesla Model 3 Perf. for 4 years. Great car. I really wanted the Lighting so my old body had something to get in and out of easier. This is a great truck but over $90K after taxes and no tax incentives just isn't making sense right now. Enjoy your Lightings for those of you fortunate enough to have received them. Cheers.
